Amazing hotel. Prime location yet super quiet, nice decor style, great views, amazing restaurant and the hotel had everything you needed. I loved that it was a smaller hotel, so that you weren’t overrun by other guests. Staff was very helpful and super friendly. Everyone spoke perfect English which is not given in Spain. If I had any negative comment it would be that the shampoo holder in the shower was a little tilted, and the table in the room was coated in a strange material. And if this is my only negative feedback, then the hotel was perfect :) Definitely coming back next time I am in Madrid.

We loved everything about our stay here. The location was perfect for walking and exploring popular spots in Madrid (Retiro Park, the Prado Museum, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Barrio de las Letras, and more - all within walking distance). The service was friendly and top notch. The breakfast was a highlight with a wonderful selection of delicious foods and the option to sit outdoors on the balcony. The room was luxurious and had a balcony with a beautiful view, and the AC worked extremely well which was needed in the August heatwave. It was perfect for our Madrid stay. Thank you to all at The Principal for a memorable experience!

6/10 Good

It was our first visit to Madrid so we wanted to stay right in the centre and The Principal is in a great location. As you enter there is a flight of stairs and the doorman takes your details then bundles you into a small lift to reception on the 6th floor. The reception is between the restaurant and the bar and both look lovely,

6/10 Good

Good location. Service pretty poor for a boutique 5 star hotel. We were greeted with lots of free extras none of which were actually available to us. When ordering our complimentary cocktails we were told we had to go back to our rooms and present our check in form (quite a hassle as the lifts were slow) even though this was never mentioned. When we decided to leave instead no one was in the least bit bothered.
