"We visit NYC & Brooklyn regularly. We chose the Hotel Indigo for the convenience of its location to Williamsburg & Bushwick. What you don’t necessarily realize when booking it is that it’s adjacent to the BQE, a major highway. The neighborhood is, for lack of a better word, kind of seedy. Let’s say this neighborhood is far from a “garden spot.” It’s close to Williamsburg though, so that helps. The inside is fine, your typical hotel. The receptionist did not seem happy to see us or to be working. She did mention that there was a rooftop bar, but never bothered to explain how to GET to it, which led to some unpleasant frustration. The room was clean but the hairdryer didn’t work and the shower was VERY slippery (some leftover soap or cleaner) and the water temperature was uneven. Hard to get it to NOT be either too hot or too cold. The lobby area was nice but there was absolutely NO designated smoking area outside but PLENTY of “no smoking” signs EVERYWHERE. Huge annoyance for my partner, a smoker. In 2026, what major hotel chain does not provide this? It’s inexcusable given that Indigo has a MASSIVE outdoor patio the entirety of which is off limits to smokers (and no one ever seemed to be using it.) And BTW, the reception folks don’t inform guests that the doors to the hotel off Metropolitan Ave are locked at night, so you have to walk around the block to get in again. Nothing too horrible about this place, but we won’t be returning & we won’t be recommending it to anyone. "
