Blue Heaven Island is not a hotel. It’s like staying at your friend’s private island. Jimmy and Eli will treat you as their own houseguests, welcoming you with kindness and an eagerness to please. There is absolutely nothing on the island but nature itself. No cars, restaurants, tv, or bars. It is nature’s paradise. Jimmy’s French-Polynesian cooking is sublime and for a fee they can take you to the main island of Bora Bora if you want to shop or visit an island attraction. My children spent hours snorkeling in the lagoon, eating mangoes, and looking for crabs. I had quality time with myself and my book. My children had freedom to play in the shallow placid water without any people around to worry about. The kayaks are free, the fish are everywhere and the sunsets are beyond postcard perfect. If you are coming to the islands for the quintessential tourist protocol I suggest a big hotel. You won’t find a drop of alcohol here except for what you bring yourself. If you are coming to have a true island experience, alone with very few people, Blue Heaven Island is a humble retreat I feel so lucky to have known. It’s important to know this is not the Four Seasons, these are real bungalows with real palm roofs and real coral reefs and all the discomforts that may come with that. We did not suffer a bit, but this is not a luxury resort. I imagine there are few places left on the planet that are this isolated and yet open to the public. It is a gem.

2/10 Poor

Beautiful location I discovered while snorkeling but sadly a total scam. I booked and paid for a room for two nights, the hotel emailed to say there was no availability but never cancelled the reservation, even though I asked them to (if the cancellation came from me, Orbitz would have charged a cancellation fee). Not only was it stressful not knowing if I had a place ro stay, but also Blue Heaven took the money for a hotel stay that never happened. (There are no water taxis, so there is no way to get there without their help/pickup). No refund, no apology, no communication whatsoever. I have been trying to reach them ever since - by phone, email, orbitz - but have never been able to reach them again. Orbitz is unwilling to refund the charge. So really a combined Orbitz/Blue Heaven scam. Stay away. There are so many beautiful, affordable, family-run hotels on Bora Bora. Don’t let this place ruin your holiday.

8/10 Very good

Lovely, a little rough
The good: the snorkeling, view and ambience here is close to ideal. The channel next to this motu is perfect (its where the pricey resorts bring guests to snorkel - but they wont impact your stay). We spent most of the day on the raised decks watching the colors and changing weather. Its incredibly beautiful. You can snorkel from the beach and you are instantly there - or go for a 2 hour float around the channel. There are several good paddle boats. Host Jimmie - chef, snorkel guide and coconut master - provides wholesome meals and as much or little assistance as you need. (Meal prices were about $40 for dinner and $25 for breakfast - brkfst was pretty much same every morning). The not-so-good: No wine or spirits. Fortunately we came fortified with enough of our own supply of cocktails, but evening wine was missed. I suppose you can be taken into town (for a price) to get your own. This may be due to the recent covid issues - we were the only ones at the resort - and i believe the websight says they do have wine? There are no chairs outside your bungalow. This is not a place you will find very comfortable hanging out in your room. The property feels a bit worn and unkempt - again, not sure if this a temporary condition due to lack of guests. The motu has several other structures on it, some abandoned, some occupied, so you wont have the island all to yourself Overall this is a wonderful alternative to the absurdly priced big resorts and will get you closer to nature.

We really like the view and the spot itself for the snorkelling, it was great. The homemade dinner with fresh tuna steak or tuna sashimi etc was excellent. The complimentary dessert was really good too. We didn’t really like the absence of few services like wifi or to have to pay to go to the main island.

We really loved this place! The staff there is just amazing! Very helpful and kind. Makes you feel like you are family. The snorkeling there is probably the best on the island and you can use all of there kayaks and gear for free. The food they make is great and very well served! It is not like one of those big resorts it is more natural and real so do not expect any marble flooring or other crazy resort things. Definitely an amazing place that must be visited!!!!

Perfect Idyllic Island
Blue heaven is perfect if you are longing for rustic seclusion on your own Pacific tropical island. It is authentic, genuine, and warm. Snorkel, sunbathe, eat coconuts as they fall out of the tree. Sleep without air conditioning under a mosquito net. If this sounds right to you, you will love it as we did.

This is a very cozy quiet private island at the most natural conditions, no luxury facilities like other resort areas, if you are looking for a getaway and enjoy the nature. this is the best place!!! Location is just next to the Borabora airport. Staff there is so friendly, especially Jimmy was so nice and take care of us, and showing us around. And their two little dogs were so cute and getting along with us sometimes. The meal provided is simple and nice, table setting was dedicated, food was unexpectedly yummy and fresh. We love and enjoy our stay there so much!! The canoe trip around the little islands is really recommended!! you will be surrounded by the green and blue crystal clear water with nobody there!

A peace of heaven and tranquillity.
We stayed here for 4 nights and couldn't be happier. Elie and Jimmy made us incredibly welcome. A very warm and friendly stay in a beautiful quiet location. It's on a private island with nothing but the bungalows and beautiful views and lagoon. As there aren't any shops etc on this island, you should take some drinks with you or you can get one of the guys to take you to the airport for a shuttle service to the main island where there are supermarkets etc. Nothing is too much trouble for either of the guys. They just want you to relax and enjoy. You can kayak and snorkel in the crystal clear water, or just relax by the beach. Breakfast and dinner were both lovely every day. A truly peaceful and enjoyable stay.

more rustic hotel on private island. All meals are made by owner and are about $25 per meal. Kayaks and snorkeling gear provided at no cost...great snorkeling area in front of resort and very nice kayaks. We enjoyed it for a one night trip but enjoyed the nicer amenities (at a much higher cost) from the other places we stayed.

6/10 Good

What happened to all the critical reviews.
The price/value ratio is not really balanced as you pay a premium price for a Nippa hut with mosquitoes, spiders and other critters all included. The hut has only a big bed with mosquito netting and a couch but no table and chairs. There is a ceiling fan and everything is open to the outside, hence all the flying and crawling visitors. .As you are on a little island, you are forced to use their meals that are quite expensive for the quality provided and if you want to visit town, you have to pay for the boat shuttle extra. The staff is charming and entertaining, which makes up for the lack in comfort of the room but the religious touch of the manager on Saturday night could be offending to somebody who is not of the Jewish faith. The island and lagoon are scenic though and if you want to relax from work and stress, it is a nice place but the pictures of the booking site are misleading and don't give an actual representation of the accommodations. As a resort hotel facility I could give it only 2 stars

Like going native but with amenities
We spent five awesome days here (June 2017) and regretted leaving. Elle and Ari took great personal care of us, and we parted as friends not customers. We got an amazing feel of "authentic Tahitian life" that hotels only hint at. Blue Heaven Island is a small owner-operated set of five bungalows on a real "motu" (reef island) with a breezy covered outdoor dining area, a dock for waterside breakfast and lunch, swimming and snorkeling off the dock that beats many other added-cost hotel excursions, and sunrise and sunset viewing from the dock that will fill your camera - and Elle plays guitar and sings while you click away. You eat with the Elle and Ari family style - all the options are on the table before you, but they ask for your meal suggestions early on. Meals are fixed-price and you pay cash at the end of the stay. No paperwork - they just note in a book how many meals you ate. Bring your own booze, or trade favors with staff. My wife ate like a bird so they lowered her meal charges to the children's rate, without me asking for it. Bring cash equal to $100 a day per adult and you'll have some left at the end. No air conditioning but fans and open windows were adequate for cool sleeping at night - under mosquito netting. Days there are a few mosquitoes, so bring repellant. They use solar-generated electricity and solar-heated hot water so don't waste any. Wifi access is intermittent - so disconnect, chill, and smile. You'll never be this relaxed again.
