Efficient staff and unrivalled cleanliness.
Located within easy walking distance from the train and bus station, I guess the Resort was built circa 1986 the original carpets, furniture and fixtures all remain today and are diligently cleaned by dedicated staff.
It is a shame however, that much like Taiwan, nothing at the Resort has been updated since it was first built. The furniture is very worn and tarnished, the carpets worn and discoloured and the blinds/curtains in desperate need of replacement. With no screens on the windows, we woke at night covered in insect bites.
The train from Taipei arrives at Hualien at 12:45 EVERYDAY, however guests are not permitted to check in before 15:00 despite rooms being ready. There is no indication of why Classic City is a “resort”, it has no pool, laundry, tennis court etc.
