The hotels in Punta del Este all seem to be small low-rise, and of a similar standard to the Jamaica. Location - a block from the beach, and 4 blocks from Av. Gorlero.
Free wi-fi. Very pleasant staff. Parking. Safe in the room. (No kettle.) Continental breakfast is pretty good.
The pool is a little small, but it was too cool to swim there anyway.
The rooms were clean. Maid was very helpful. Bed was very comfortable. Water was nice and hot. The shower pressure wasn't the greatest, but it was adequate.
We forgot to bring the cable to charge our ipad. We asked at the front desk if they had one, and they had a box full of assorted chargers and cables. Perfect. We borrowed it and returned it when we left.
Now the negative: The first night we were fine. The next night, we had neighbours in the adjoining room. At 6pm, their TV was on. Loud? Yes. We would have asked them to turn it down if it was still on when we returned, However, at night, we could hear the neighbours when they coughed. Luckily, it wasn't that often. Hope all neighbours are quiet and thoughtful when you stay here.
OK, this hotel isn't on par with somewhere like the Conrad, but given the sparsity of hotels, I will have to give it 4* for the rate (off season) that we paid. High-season rates are triple, and I would not want to pay that.
