Hotel Indigo York by IHG

Hotel Indigo York by IHG

10/10 Excellent
"Hotel is in a great location within the walls and within easy walking distance to all the main sights and plenty of restaurants. Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially at check-in. The breakfast buffet was good, but a few more healthy options would be great. The charge of £20 per person each day also seemed quite high, on top of an already quite pricey room and I think it should be included at this room rate. The bar area was not very welcoming, but ok for a quick refreshment and there are plenty of local options as alternatives."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in York

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most budget-friendly period to visit York is from January to March, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For a great value for money experience, it’s recommended to stay for at least 2 to 3 days to fully appreciate the city's rich history and cultural landmarks. During your visit, you can explore historic monuments, fascinating museums, and the iconic cathedral, all while enjoying the warmth of friendly locals. Additionally, you can partake in various tours, attend vibrant festivals, and indulge in some shopping, making your trip a wholesome blend of sightseeing and cultural immersion.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: York travellers may discover hotel deal opportunities by visiting the DealsOpens in a new window section on Hotels.com, where great savings on hotels could be available. Checking the Last-Minute Deals section may further reveal discounted rates on hotels as travel dates approach. Users are encouraged to enable email alerts to stay informed about flash sales, ensuring timely updates on price and availability. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool within the app allows travellers to compare hotel prices and amenities, helping you make an informed choice for a last-minute getaway.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices may differ depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your dates could help you save on your stay in a York hotel. For those seeking unique accommodations, boutique hotels may offer a more personalised experience and occasionally better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below average. If the rate is higher, we may suggest more affordable dates to help you find a better deal.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre typically tend to be more expensive, but thanks to York's superb public transport links, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
