Everything about our stay here was perfect. The hotel is run by a tremendously warm and welcoming family - Maria, Spiros, Thomas and Olympia - who make you feel completely at home and so well looked after. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Our room was beautifully clean and well presented, the beds were extremely comfortable, the breakfasts are to die for (all the fruit, salad and olives is home-grown), and Maria gave us bowls of fruit to take to our room each evening - not to mention her fabulous home-made cake. Thomas, the son of the family, is enormously knowledgeable about the area and keen to help, advise and lend books and maps. And when I managed to leave my passport behind, Spiros drove all the way to Thessaloniki bus station to give it back to me. Truly this is a very special place run by the kindest and most thoughtful hosts you could hope to meet. The exceptional museum of the royal tombs is only a couple of minutes' walk away. And don't miss the School of Aristotle at Mieza, where Alexander the Great spent three of his adolescent years absorbing the wisdom of the greatest philosopher who has ever lived! (Thomas will tell you how to get there). We hope to return to Olympia Guesthouse and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting this interesting and beautiful area.
