Athens and related destinations

Ancient history rises from every corner, where the Acropolis stands sentinel over a city that invented democracy. The Parthenon's columns frame perfect sunset views, while the Odeon of Herodes Atticus hosts performances in a 2,000-year-old theatre. Syntagma Square pulses with modern Greek life as locals debate politics over strong coffee. The National Archaeological Museum houses treasures that survived empires, wars, and time itself. Take a breather at a area taverna where old men play backgammon with the intensity of chess grandmasters. Escape to the Attica Zoological Park when ancient marble becomes overwhelming. The Port of Piraeus buzzes with ferries bound for islands that appear as blue-topped smudges on the horizon.

Astor Hotel Athens

Astor Hotel Athens

10/10 Excellent
"We stayed for three nights in an acropolis view room. It was a magical weekend. The room was spotless, the employees were all friendly and very helpful, and the Hotel is in an amazing location. There is so much going on outside near the Hotel. Great shopping, amazing food, very safe vibe, and just a fun place to walk around. The two high points that stood out extra special for us were the amazing view and the included buffet breakfast with a wall of window overlooking Athens and the acropolis. Worth the price. Would love to come back"

Novotel Athenes

8/10 Good
"The highlight was a pool on the roof, overlooking the acropolis. Being on the roof, it wasn't very deep and was fairly small, so with quite a lot of hotel guests using it, there wasn't really room for a proper swim, but it was great for cooling off. We were delighted to see there was a shuttle-bus into the city centre, but it didn't go very regularly and got filled up so we had to walk. The breakfast choice was phenomenal - I could have stayed there all day - I couldn't even decide what to drink, let alone what to eat - but the following day, when I checked out before breakfast, all that was available was dry cake, crumbly biscuits and sachet coffee - a bit of an anticlimax for an otherwise good stay."

"We only stayed in Athens one night before with head over to an island. This was a beautiful boutique Hotel. He was located in a very nice walkable shopping area. Pretty close to all the main attractions. It does take about 25 minutes to get from the airport, We took a Taxi. When we got there, the room wasn’t ready yet, but they did hold our suitcases so we could walk around and enjoy the town. The best part of staying there was the restaurant that we ate that evening. It was probably one of the best meals we had the entire stay in Greece, I highly recommend it."
