Five star rating
We stayed for seven nights and everything was five star service all the way. Will stay again in the future.

2nd stay and I wouldn't go back unless they fix it
I never post reviews coz most of the times, the hotels are half decent and frankly you can't please everyone but I will say this time, do yourself a favour and get another hotel. This was my second stay in this hotel (first one in 2013) and the quality has just gone down. Stains in the carpet, aircon not working, mossies in the bedroom (mossie repellent was ineffective), hot water only "luke warm" in the day time and hot in the night, the only saving grace was the hotel staff was extremely friendly and wanted to make my stay comfortable but the issues were beyond their scope. The corporate needs to steam clean the carpets, along with fumigating the rooms, that should take care of the mossies that keep you awake at night. The hot water, possibly they need to get a new system or heat it even in peak time instead of just off-peak. The aircon thermostat was broken, it went to below zero but the actual temperature was around 21 degrees or above. Service the AIRCON Corporate! Some pics attached, wish I could upload the video of the Honeywell thermostat dial going way below 0 and way above 30+ Celsius. Changed the room to 811 but had the same issues. Reception even gave me a fan to lower the temp, the worst part, even the reception was using the fan, speaks volumes about their aircon. Oh and don't even go to the spa, just don't. Corporate needs to fix this hotel to get it back to its previous glory.

Below our expectations
The rooms are old, carpets are dusty, cleanliness is below our expectations for what we are paying for. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Average hotel; pay for the executive room. Customer service is non existent at this hotel. The best thing about hotel is the proximity to everything. Eat at local establishments, you can walk to get food.

Good choice for a short walk to the Bund
Nice location if you intend to walk and shop around the Bund

Good Location but not much else
The location to the main tourist areas of Shanghai and the metro is good. Room with a view of the skyscrapers to the east cost more but are decent. Otherwise, amenities are pretty lacking. Room was cramped. Bed was very hard. Room card reader only worked half the time, not very easy to use.

It's just ok, but won't stay here again
Thus hotel is located in a very busy local business area which is interesting to walk around. One side overlooks a small waterway which is a plus. Concierge service is generally good and responsive. Receptionists were generally good with the exception of one that I dealt with. Though there was no negative interactions her attitude toward the hotel concierge staff was definitely rude and unprofessional. Overall the hotel is older and its interior could be dark and depressive for some. Water pressure and temperature were both satisfactory. There are plenty of better choices in this area. I'll likely won't stay here again.

Disappointment on the Bund
The best thing about the hotel was the location. We were two blocks from the subway and wenf every where on the metro. The hotel itself is old. The rooms are not cleaned daily. The maid asked me if I wanted her to clean the dust filled glass shelf over the minibar. That is unacceptable. The beda were extremely uncomfortable. I had to ask for additional padding on the mattress. The concierge was not friendly at all to foreigners. I believe this hotel is not meant for western visitors who expect higher standards of service and cleanliness. They only give one access card to the room. The electricity is shut off once you leave. The rooms are hot and uncomfortable when you return. We went in August and it was extremely hot. Western visitors should go to Western chain hotels to ensure a more pleasant stay.

Okay hotel in great location at affordable price
Overall, I had a pleasant stay during my 3 nights. I chose queen bed with river+city view bedroom. Pros: friendly staff, good location (only a short walk to the famous Nanjing walking street and subway, lots of great restaurants around the area), my room has great view of The Bund Shanghai, affordable price Cons: room was run down and need renovation, air con worked but not cool enough, lots of tours coming in just for dinner on the 3rd floor and thus I had to wait a long time for the elevator.
