Welcome to our renovated 1896 bungalow, we envisioned a place where visitors could cozy up, stay a while and experience city living amidst the peacefulness of park life. The house is within walking distance of the 250+ acre Riverview Park so wildlife and trail
adventures await! Please be aware that there is an abundance of wildlife in the evening, the family of deer that pass through are very docile, as are the raccoon, groundhogs, possum, and cats that inhabit the neighborhood. You will f ind that all the wildlife live in harmony with the community.
Explore the woods at nearby Riverview Park and discover many other city amenities that are close to the house. Created in 1894, the park predates the City of Allegheny’s annexation to the City of Pittsburgh in 1907. Formed largely from farmland, today’s Riverview Park is known for its dense woodlands and steep topography.The park’s extensive network of trails invites hikers, joggers, and the occasional horseback rider into the woods. The park is also home to the landmark Allegheny Observatory, a visitor’s center, a swimming pool and activities building, the natural beauty of the Mairdale watershed, and the popular two-mile Riverview Loop. Residents enjoy the park's pool, playground, ball field, shelters and summertime concerts and movies.
The home is in a residential neighborhood close to the local Carnegie library, several pizza/sub shops, and other unique eateries. The house is within driving distance of full-service grocery stores, drug stores, coffee shops, dry cleaners, gas stations, restaurants, bars, and other night life, however, all of these types of establishments are within one or two miles. Unique to the area is the local Bread Works for delicious artistry breads.
From the house you will be able to walk out the front door and down the street into the lower part of Riverview Park. There are an extensive choice of trails to choose from if you like to hike or mountain bike. The terrain is hilly with a wide variety of flora and fauna. The park is rich in wildlife so don't be surprised to see deer, possum, raccoons, turkeys, ground hogs and the occasional fox at night. The wildlife is very docile and are used to being around people. Please remember that although they are gentle, their personal space needs to be respected.
