Parque del Lago Boutique Hotel

The hotel is in good condition and located within walking distance to the National Museum of Art and the large La Sabana Park. I would consider this a 3-star property. Parking is free and secure; breakfast was delicious. If you are interested in visiting the National Museum of Costa Rica, Jade Museum, or the Metropolitan Cathedral, or dining at some of San Jose's finer restaurants, you will need to take a taxi or consider staying at another hotel that is closer. In other words, the hotel is not within walking distance of most attractions. It took a while for the water to get hot, but after running the shower for about 5 minutes it was fine.

Friendly and helpful staff... Good advise about travel within the city. Great location for the amazing restaurants in San Jose. Lovely room, well thought out bathroom and shower and a fine breakfast with great coffee. Good for a couple or business traveler who wants more than a hotel chain.

It is a very nice hotel with a couple of small issues. * Its very clean! * Staff is very kind and helpful - especially in the restaurant, maids and shuttle driver. * Only strike against the front desk was I asked for just a $10 money exchange from Colons to US Dollars and the clerk wouldn't give it to me. It was only $10 - go to bat for your customers! Otherwise they were helpful and kind. * Food was quite good. I dined there a couple of times for dinner. I didn't really enjoy the breakfast buffet - their selections were moderate and I don't like most breakfast foods anyway so I can't hold them too accountable * Security was great. I saw others criticized closing the gates late night. I appreciated it and they had a guy posted there all night to let you in. * BIGGEST ISSUE - They did have a sign that said free airport shuttle when they charged me $30 for pick-up and $10 for drop-off. They front desk clerk said it was only for those who made reservations directly through their website and not another. That just makes you mad. They should take down that sign so all customers don't feel cheated. * They did have a fitness room with only one machine, but they had one on every floor - so there were other machines - you just had to change floors but thats not a big deal * Room was spacious * Overall it was a very nice stay and I would return (if they take down the free shuttle sign lol)
