- History
The original downtown of Jeju, which refers to the old Jeju Fortress area, is a place that embraces the history and lifestyle of Jeju Island from the Tamna Period to modern times. Places that we recommend you to visit include Gwandeokjeong Hall, Jejumok-Gwana Government Office, Tapdong, Chilseongtong, Dongmun Traditional Market and Jeju Fortress.
Jejumok-Gwana Government Office served as the political, administrative and cultural centre of Jeju Island until the Joseon Dynasty, and the building itself experienced many ups and downs and still retains the pain of the island. Gwandeokjeong Hall, located at the entrance of Jejumok-Gwana Government Office, is the oldest structure on Jeju. Join the “Heart-throbbing Original Downtown Tour,” which follows the traces of the history and culture of Jeju Island while walking along Sanjicheon Stream. More and more tourists are participating through word of mouth since they can see different corners of the interesting original city centre.

Jungmun Tourist Complex is a tourist complex that takes advantage of Jeju Island’s unique natural scenery and geographical environment. The complex houses a variety of accommodations and leisure facilities as well as shopping, recreation and cultural facilities in the vicinity. One of its greatest advantages is that you can enjoy both recreational activities and sightseeing as the area features not only cultural facilities such as Alive Museum Jeju, which consists of five themes including trick art and Jeju Teddy Bear Museum but also famous luxury hotels.
Honestly, the natural scenery is so beautiful that it would be sufficient to just take a simple walk around without visiting anywhere in particular. Nohyeong-dong on Jeju is an area where the scholarly spirit that values courtesy and morality is still alive and that has produced talented people who have played crucial roles in various fields of society. The area is also the centre of transportation because the roads are well developed in all directions.
Places worth visiting are Jeju Loveland and the Mysterious Road. Jeju Loveland is a sex-themed sculpture park where you can enjoy a variety of fun and humorous sculptures. In particular, if visiting with your lover, you can have an interesting and exciting time. The Mysterious Road, which starts from the Ninety-Nine Valleys and runs through Eoseungsaengak and Hanbyeok Reservoir, is a strange place. You will find your car rolling uphill on this steep hill. This phenomenon occurs due to an optical illusion but it still definitely generates curiosity, which is why it has become a tourist attraction that many people visit.
