Monte Beach is for those looking to escape the midday heat with a dip close to Rovinj Old Town. Set on the west side of the Old Town, along the road below the Church of St. Euphemia, you’ll find a great place to cool off right by town with a view across to Katarina Island.

Only around 150 metres long, the beach is divided into several sections. The Big and Little Guguliera are small beaches that are best for families with children. Adults and teens may prefer to head to Baluota and Lanterna, where you can jump or dive from the rocky ledges into the sea. Be sure to pack plenty of sun protection as there is no natural shade on this rocky beach.

Katarina Island is dubbed one of the most beautiful islands in the Rovinj archipelago, and finding a beach to lay your towel and relax on here isn’t difficult. Most choose to head to the east of the island, which is littered with stony beaches with access to amenities and services including food and drinks as well as the Hotel Katarina.

The west is home to much rockier beaches, many of which rise up to 15 metres high and plunge directly into the sea. Those who enjoy cliff jumping will feel right at home here. If you plan to explore more than the beaches on the island, you can discover a cultivated vineyard with olive trees and old coniferous forests to wander.
