8/10 Very good

A lovely property, nice room and hot shower, good bed. However the floor boards in my room made a noise every time I breathed and my room was very cold unfortunately which was shame because it could be a really good place with nice welcoming staff and great breakfast

OUR HOTEL OF CHOICE FOR WICKFORD

We have stayed here many times, our first time in room 2. The mattress has obviously seen two guests too many. Other than that, had a good stay. Breakfast of a good quality & well cooked.

Enjoyable and comfortable stay.

Pleasant stay, small but cosy room. Basic needs met with comfort and character. Staff were polite and friendly and were very engaging during breakfast service. Breakfast was enjoyable. It is in a nice, quiet location, didn't have any issues with noise from pub but it was a mid-week stay.
George, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

We stayed for 2nights in the family room and were very happy with our stay. The room was a good size and set up for the 4 of us when we arrived. We had dinner in the pub both nights, very tasty pub grub and plenty of options for the children. The playground was a huge bonus! The shower pole in our room broke on the first morning, but was fixed by the time we got home in the afternoon - fantastic service. The breakfast was fine, but at flat £8.95 per head we felt a little steep for the children who didn't want a hot breakfast. Overall a lovely stay.

Great location

Good location, room was small but very nice. arrived 7.30pm to be told dinner service stopped at 8pm and had a 30min wait for food, which wasn’t great after a 3.30min drive. Waitress wasn’t that friendly or to say we will accommodate you. Had to go to a local takeaway for food. Room was very comfy, breakfast was lovely and the man serving me was fantastic and very friendly. So left from my stay in a positive mood for the day

4/10 Fair

The room's layout didn't work, the shower was poor and hard work.

2/10 Poor

The property looked tired and dirty. The room was small and bathroom was poor. Tiny sink and controls on the power shower completely wrong so ended ip wirh a freezing cold shower. Asked to be mived but they were fully booked. The only room they could offer was over the kitchen but we was advised not to take it as it was hot and noisy. Would not recommend this property at all. Food was poor - however staff was amazing especially Lou who tried her very best to accommodate our situation.

Second visit, didnt disappoint

2nd time here whilst visiting family. My son got married here 2 years ago and it was fantastic, Sam the wedding planner was brilliant and we said hello as there was an open day rhis weekend. We had an issue with the 1st room alloction due to mobility problems, low ceiling and bath but requested a reallocation to which Mark (the manager) was more than accomodating. There was a band on Friday night which was great, but we felt it ended too late at midnight. Even though we enjoyed we would have liked to go to bed earlier but knew that we wouldnt be able to sleep above the bar with the music. After a long drive of 5.5hrs that day, the late night took its toll on us for the weekend. An 11pm stop would have been preferable. We ate there Friday night and the food was lovely. We also had Sunday dinner at the restaurant in the conservatory which again was lovely and reasonably priced. However, the sound does carry and we and others did struggle with the echoing noise. Mark dealt with complaints adequately but as he said he cant do anything about the noise. Overall a great long weekend and will return.

Superb Family Room

Have always enjoyed staying at Rettendon Lodge, however on this occasion my expectations were exceeded as I stayed in Family room number 1 and it was superb. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in, the room was light and airy and tastefully decorated and everything was clean and tidy.

Great staff, highly recommended!

Check in was very easy, Sophie was very helpful and polite. I can highly recommend this venue, the staff are great and the food is excellent. The hotel room was clean and very comfortable, they even have bottled water in the room, rarity these days. Highly recommended, I’ll be returning when I’m next in the area.

Ok for overnight

All ok, staff seem nice but room and bedding a bit musty. Fine for overnight, no big issues. Good value. Book direct for complimentary breakfast.
