From the greeting to the check out all went so smoothly. We were taken to our room and shown the amenities. The feel was like a bed and breakfast. We went with another couple. Our rooms were upstairs and we had a balcony with chairs and a table. We sat outside with our complimentary sherry. Wonderful atmosphere and was cozy. If I was ever going back to Carmel to stay overnight, I would book this place, again!

Nice hotel and comfy room. Only thing is they charge you 50 dollars a day for pets, so add that on top of your total. Which I wasn’t expecting since I thought the total on here would be enough, so not good on Expedia to leave that out. Hotel is close to downtown and walkable!

A perfect little vacation.

A comfortable and quaint experience in a town that seems magical. From check-in to check-out, we truly enjoyed our time in this perfectly located inn. Staff is incredibly welcoming and friendly. Stay here!

We absolutely loved it here. We had such a personal check in experience with Randy - he went over Carmel with us and gave great recommendations. It was within walking distance of everything (shops, restaurants, and the beach). The room was SO clean, welcoming, and the bed was comfortable. In the morning, they delivered such a nice breakfast basket, which was a great way to finish our stay. I would definitely recommend this place as well as stay here again!

Wonderful location and welcome, but our room was very dated and the fridge had a very noisy compressor. Glad we had a sound machine! Very nice breakfast delivered in a basket each morning, but the hole in the apple was a bummer. Also, the WiFi was non existent in our room and was not resolved during our two night stay.

We really enjoyed our stay here. However, I wanted to leave a couple notes for others that I wasn’t aware of when we booked it: - there are two properties and the east one (across the street) has a private property facing it with a fountain that drips all night. It drove us crazy! - they have a bottle of liquor in the room. That was fine for us but would be good to know ahead of time for people who have issues with that. - the room was quite small (I thought it was cozy, while my husband felt we could have used a little more space.) - the style/character of the place was lovely, and the staff were very kind and welcoming. - the room could have used a mirror. The only mirror was in the bathroom and I had to share it with my husband while he was shaving and I was trying to do my hair.

Should’ve paid more for a better place

We chose the Monte Verde Inn for price, location, and the good reviews it had. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly desk agent who gave us good advice on parking and local restaurants. We were offered an upgrade from our queen bed to a king with an additional charge which we declined. We were then taken to our room at “Monte Verde East”. This is directly across the street from the primary location. The room we were given was very dated and in need of remodel / upgrades. The furnishings were all painted but covered in chips and scratches. The bathroom looked like it hadn’t been worked on in decades. In fact, the receptacle at the bathroom sink (non-GFCI) was so old that I had to hold the plug for my wife to use her curling iron because it kept falling out. The bed was moderately comfortable but the pillows were paper thin. It was a warm night and there’s no AC. We tried leaving the windows open but you heard a lot of road noise and people outside. Closing them didn’t help much either. We should’ve known when the bathroom had two sets of earplugs!?!? The pipes were very loud whenever someone turned on the water. In the morning, someone knocked on our door and yelled “Breakfast!” Despite the Do Not Disturb sign on our door. It wouldn’t have mattered though because we could hear them at every single door in the building. The breakfast basket seemed great until we discovered that the yogurt was ELEVEN DAYS EXPIRED. Next time we’ll pay a little more for a better hotel.
