Yelled at by waiter !
The location is fantastic. We were able to walk everywhere and felt safe doing so. Front desk staff and wait staff at breakfast were not warm or friendly. At breakfast I was even berated by a waiter, actually yelled at in front of other people for sitting at a table. Never in my life have I had that happen. I was shocked. All of the bellhops were pleasant, helpful and gave good directions.

Avoid
The room was like something out of the 1970’s. Truly awful as had not been updated for decades Had a balcony room looking over a flat roof when advertised as pool view. Breakfast was not a pleasant experience as hot food ran out and took 30 mins to be replaced. Not sure how they have 5 star rating. Overpriced and under delivered

The staff here made you feel like you were a burden. Do not disturb sign means pound on my door and walk in at 8am here, then gets mad because we told them to get the f out… The hotel lobby looks amazing and should for the price. You get to your room and it’s not what the pictures showed, smelt horrible, looked like it was from the 80s still (hence not like the pictures that were full reno and looked bran new). I travel full time for work and this is a first for me. This hotel is worth about $50 a night max with how run down and horrible it was. DO NOT STAY HERE. It’s so bad that I tried contacting Expedia to get a refund, still waiting.

8/10 Very good

We were moved after spending the first of four nights at this hotel. First room was a dump with a circa 1930's toilet that sounded like a jet plane and bathtub that was dark, and windows that didn't block out street noise. This review is based on the second room which was spacious with a beautifully laid out bathroom with generous shower enclosure, power blackout blinds, comfortable bed but pillows could be better. The room did not have enough electrical outlets, no coffee machine, no complimentary water, which I expected based on the price paid. It did have a good breakfast for a European hotel with a wonderful view from the rooftop restaurant. However the extra charge for a cappuccino was the first I have experienced over 30 hotels I have stayed in in Europe. Not sure why they feel compelled to do this. The hotel is in close proximity to Plaka and other popular sites. Staff are pleasant, especially Nicholas at front desk who was kind enough to move us to a better room and extend our check-out time.

Great hotel central to Plaka and acropolis. Only issue was check in . Multiple people checked in early but front desk did not do paperwork. 50 people waiting in lobby. Once rooms were ready(before check in time) there was a mad rush to get on a very long line and slow process. They should have taken all guest info at check in, and when rooms were ready, just give out key

4/10 Fair

It truely saddens me to write this review. My family and extended family discovered this hotel over 15 years ago. It is or I should say have been our go to hotel in Athens. It is a treat for us to stay and enjoy the beautiful roof top view and breakfast before heading to the islands. This trip was put in a room with non working AC, After 4 seperate requests to have the AC checked they waited till 3:00 a.m. to offer to move us along with shrugged shoulders from the manaement at the front desk. So very shocked and saddened. Good bye Royal Olympic for my entire family.

6/10 Good

The location was excellent and the rooftop view was amazing from the Acropolis. The swimming pool was unusual deep. Guests had to be good swimmers or congregated by the edge of the pool. The air conditioner worked very poorly, we had a bathroom that had a water backflow from the floor drainer, making the floor wet every time we shower. The bedroom is outdated and the bed is not comfortable. Breakfast was average nothing extraordinary. Some young male receptionist from the evening looked away from guests to avoid. On the pool bar and rooftop the guest services were better. We tried the rooftop restaurant for a evening meal the food was good, but expensive.
