Old Florida in the Heart of the Everglades
Old Florida drive-up motel. Updated, comfortable and perhaps the cleanest motel we’ve seen. Centrally located for exploring the Everglades. Diner next door with very good food. Waterside restaurants within walking distance. Highly recommended for an authentic Everglades visit.

Good base to explore SW Everglades
Average place to stay, have a base to explore the SW part of the Everglades. Minimal services available in the city. No fault of the hotel, but an accident disrupted ALL water to the city. No water in the room at 3:15 and every restaurant in the town closed. Water finally back in the room around 3AM. Communication by centralized desk in another hotel could have been better.

No heat!
There was an air conditioning unit but no heat, and we were there in January. It got pretty cold that night and there was no way to warm up the room, there were no extra blankets either. There was no clothes bar to hang clothes on in the closet. And the floor sloped in a very odd way that was supposed to make it accessible-friendly, I guess, but just made me worry that I was going to slip backward toward the door. On the plus side it was clean and there was plenty of hot water and a decent amount of towels.
