Apex Grassmarket Hotel

Apex Grassmarket Hotel

8/10 Good
"A lovely hotel, well situated in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town. But while that's a good thing overall, it has a slight downside in that the area is quite busy and noisy . . . may be hard to sleep. Be sure you ask for a room NOT overlooking the Castle . . . I know, I know, that's a huge part of the appeal, but you'll thank me at bedtime! But on balance, a fine choice for your Edinburgh stay."

Apex City of Edinburgh Hotel

"Perfect location for Castle, with steep steps or steep uphill walk to get to it. Car park big advantage but get there early as got full by 3pm on day I went. You can use the other Apex hotel car park a very short distance down on the street. Very helpful and friendly staff on reception and at breakfast. Twin room a good size but not massive, bathroom has separate shower and bath which is so much better than shower in bath. All cleaned to high standard. Usual kettle tea and coffee with milk in fridge Breakfast discount available on the day and 2 free drinks vouchers given which was appreciated. One of the best buffet breakfasts I have had and could order from a breakfast menu as well so you should never go hungry. Excellent value for money in a busy city hotel"

"El staff fue muy receptivo y amable, a pesar que llegamos muy tarde en la noche y estaban cerrando el bar, nos atendieron con mucha amabilidad y nos trajeron algo para comer. Estamos agradecidas por eso. Tambien la persona que nos recibió fue muy eficiente y hablaba español, con lo cual fue más fácil entendernos."

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Galashiels is between January and March, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For those on a budget, staying for at least 2 to 3 days is recommended to fully experience the town's key landmarks and cultural attractions. During your visit, you can explore historical sites like the local castle, enjoy a pint at a traditional bar, indulge in delicious cheese, or partake in excursions that highlight the area's rich heritage. Additionally, there are opportunities for fishing, relaxing in natural parks, and savouring coffee—all of which offer great value for money. With prices potentially dropping during this period, it’s an excellent time to discover Galashiels without breaking the bank.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To uncover last-minute deals to Galashiels, visit the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals section on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted rates on nearby hotels as your travel date approaches. Consider enabling email alerts or push notifications from Hotels.com to stay updated on flash sales and special promotions, so you’re more likely to take advantage of potential savings. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool available in the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you can make informed choices and be the first to know if prices drop or rooms become available for your last-minute getaway.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices can vary depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your dates may help you find a more affordable stay in a Galashiels hotel. For those seeking something a little different, boutique hotels might offer a more personalised experience and occasionally better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average, and if it is on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could help you secure a more attractive rate.
  4. Consider your location: Opting to stay near key attractions or city centres may offer convenience, yet it often comes with a steeper price tag. For more budget-friendly options, you might consider hotels in less central areas or neighbourhoods, striking a balance between cost and accessibility to the sites you wish to visit. Independent hotels located slightly further out are worth exploring, as they can provide a more authentic and generally more affordable experience.
