Catch the California surf culture vibe at Steamer Lane, where locals ride waves with impressive nonchalance. The historic Beach Boardwalk delivers nostalgic thrills on the Giant Dipper roller coaster, a wooden marvel terrifying riders since 1924. Natural Bridges State Beach offers tide pools teeming with marine life beneath its iconic rock formation. The laid-back city centre along Pacific Avenue mixes surf shops with indie bookshops and coffee houses where students debate environmental policy. At sunset, join locals at Main Beach watching silhouettes of surfers against the golden horizon. "Free parking and close to beach, pier and Boardwalk"
Bay Front Inn Santa Cruz
"Nice location to walk to the pier and the Boardwalk!"
Hilton Santa Cruz/Scotts Valley
"Rooms are clean. Hotel is clean. Very helpful. I was just bummed that breakfast was not included"
Mission Inn
"I liked that this property for the most part had a lot of things near by. It was not noisy, very calm, and parking was very convenient."
Comfort Inn Santa Cruz North
"Clean room with everything we need it. Just bed frame linens looks used no dirty but it looked weR down. Breakfast was good, fresh made waffles, toast, muffins, coffee, sausages, cereal, potatoes, yogurt, pretty complete breakfast."
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Santa Cruz
"Room and refrigerator were clean. Staff both reception and housekeeping were very accommodating. The breakfast buffet area always seemed a little cramped. Waffles were a hit but had to stand in line the first morning a long time as only two waffle makers. Almost always a line to make waffles. I guess the line depends on how many guests show up at the same time. Muffins were the same everyday, it would be nice to have options. Always plenty of bacon, scrambled eggs, and sausages. No hot chocolate packets :( but other option coffee, tea, milk, juices. There was a $25 parking fee per night and I didn’t remember that being mentioned prior to our stay. Around that area there were no other options for overnight parking so no choice. Good to know the parking area is secured. Easy walk to the beach wharf, boardwalk and downtown. Visited the Museum, lots of great I for about the bay. Fun for all ages. I stay definitely again."
Hotel Solares
"I liked the hotel's location and the fact that everything was within walking distance. The only thing I didn't like was that coffee was available only in the morning."
Casablanca On The Beach
"This renovated property is across the street from the beach and a block from the Santa Cruz pier. It is blocks from the train that takes you to the redwoods. It couldn’t be any better of a location. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend for a visit."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Santa Cruz
- Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Santa Cruz is during January, November, and December, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For those looking to explore the city's significant landmarks, cultural sites, and historical attractions, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is recommended. During your visit, you can enjoy activities such as hiking, biking, birdwatching, and surfing, all of which offer great value for money. Planning your trip during these months may allow you to take advantage of budget-friendly options, as prices could drop further, making your experience even more economical.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: Hotels.com offers a range of options for travellers heading to Santa Cruz. You may discover attractive hotel deals by checking the DealsOpens in a new window section, while last-minute opportunities are available in the Last-Minute Deals section. You're more likely to see reduced rates and special promotions near your travel date. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities. By enabling email alerts or push notifications, you could find out first about flash sales or price drops, ensuring you have the chance to book a last-minute getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could potentially help you find a more affordable stay in a Santa Cruz hotel. For those seeking distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and may offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher side, we can suggest alternative dates that may help you discover a better deal.
- Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre generally tend to be pricier, but thanks to Santa Cruz's superb public transport connections, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel located further out that remains well-connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
