Second visit to Hotel Cerro Lodge and it was as magical as the first visit. If you love nature and birds and don't mind a bit of rustic, this is the place for you. The huge, covered patio overlooking the forest is so comfortable. I've done my work job from that patio both visits and just relaxed with my camera at the ready, waiting for the birds, or iguanas, or monkeys, or any number of other creatures to appear. Huge shout out to Jessica, Jeremy, and Erica who served us well at reception and during breakfast and dinner. Speaking of breakfast/dinner, wow do they have a couple of talented chefs in their kitchen. Highly recommend the Ragu pasta in meat sauce. Favorite dish of the trip and it is served in a freshly baked, warm, and yummy bread bowl. Very easy to access from San Jose and lots to do in the area.

Nice property. Nice owner. Room was plain but clean with ok beds. The outdoor bathroom was lovely. We enjoyed the pool. Food was ok, our order was wrong many times. we didn’t mind but if you are fussy it may not be the best choice for you. Don’t expect 5 star it’s a simple place surrounded in beautiful nature.

Our flight was diverted due to weather, causing a 5 hour delay so we were not actually able to stay overnight but staff kindly let us hang out in the morning and enjoy our breakfast. We loved our stay at the Cerro Lodge. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, and wonderful for bird watching. Our room was very clean and comfortable, and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The restaurant was a very comfortable place to be, and the pizza was delicious! Between birdwatching, floating in the pool, and enjoying the restaurant/observation deck, we were able to fully relax at Cerro Lodge!
