A fair price
Very relaxing stay next to the lagoon but also an easy walk to the beach. Only one restaurant was open aged that was on the beach so a bit of a trek when it rained. My room looked out on to a corridor which wasn’t ideal and the sealant around bathroom fittings was black with mildew. But largely these are minor details to a comfortable and relaxing stay at a fair price.

Resort with Lovely setting if a bit isolated
This resort has a fantastic setting on Tangalle beach and has a lovely pool and other facilities. Restaurant has a wonderful setting on the beach and we enjoyed an excellent dinner there. Rooms and bathroom very large. Unfortunately there are 2 negatives 1) fairly isolated only a few other resorts close by- Tangalle centre about 3 km away 2) The WiFi is bad. WiFi only in restaurant and lobby and not great there. In 2024 this isn’t good enough

2/10 Poor

disgusting
Full of mosquitos, drab, air con didn’t work, they didn’t care. We didn’t sleep a wink after paying 200 USD for a night which is well above the rate for a hotel in Sri Lanka, especially one of this standard. The breakfast buffet was disgusting with squirrels jumping on it, but I wouldn’t have eaten the food anyway. Not a single smile from anyone in the hotel, and terrible service. We needed to just leave cash upon check out as we waited so long to be served, we had to walk out and there was 3 staff and only one other guest.

Very nice place, almost private beach, only 4-5 persons at the time. The standard room is not very cozy, but has everything you need.

Lived up to it's advertising
This is a genuine resort , unlike many who describe themselves as such , but are really just homestays . Lagoon Paradise obviously aspires to maintain a good standard. It is far enough along the beach to be away from the older grubbier parts of town , but is only a 300 LKR ride from town .. Restaurant is good and there are plenty of other dining choices within walking distance along the beach .

Just okay
When we pulled up to the resort in a Tuk tuk it had a spectacular lobby i mean it was beautiful, fancy, clean elegant top notch but then Once I got to my room (cabana) it looked like a dungeon. the bathroom door was a heavy wooden door that you had to kick it open or close it. Beds were firm. Lighting was poor in room. No fridge or tv ( not that I was looking for a tv) no blow dryer but all these things were supposed to be included as per description on hotels.com. Staff were great tho, food was just okay.... first time in 10 days of being in Sri Lanka my stomach was upset after eating their breakfast buffet. Beach was okay, the sea was very rough by far not safe to swim in the current was extremely strong. Also location was further out of Tangalle town. Overall I give it a 3/5.

Great setting on the lagoon and ocean The beach is not crowded even during peak season. Kayaking in the lagoon was really nice. Great staff. Our only complaint was that our balcony faced the hall on one side so we had no privacy. Overall really nice

Pretty close to paradise - at bargain price
I really like this hotel and have now been here three times. I find it quite stylish and great value for money. The staff are great, and I particularly commend the pool attendent, domestic staff and restaurant staff. Great pool, really good size and nicely shaded with trees. It also has a seperate shallow bit great for young kids - you can swim while keeping an eye on them. I will be back!

Total Catfish
Warning, this will be long but trust me its worth reading. Will have to list it cause there was so much... -No Wi-Fi in rooms only in public spaces but only really worked in the reception lounge. - Only 1 restaurant next to the beach which sounds great until night falls and you're attacked by flies -Food menu is rubbish for half board and breakfast was cold for both days, not much options either -Pool was dirty, worn out towels and sun beds. Pool attendant sat round not doing anything since hotel was dead. - There was building work being done so not quiet or relaxing - our room was disgusting.. it was cleaner when we left than when we checked in. Ant trails all over the bathroom. Stained towels and bedding. Broken furnishings and out worn seats. - They add so much commission on to odering taxis or tuk tuks. They asked for 2500rs then came down to 1500rs and coming back we paid 800rs for 16km. Taxi from them, don't bother cause you'll pay double. - Staff stood round all the time, time to lean time to clean which the hotel massively needs!! It is not worth the stars or the money. You'll save so much from staying further into the city with much better rooms. I wish we never stayed here, unfortunately was not just our room as we spoke to 2 other couples who felt they'd been ripped off also. Was not a good experience and we shan't be reccomending to anyone. Hope this is helpful to anyone reading.

Two friends and a pleasant stay
We stayed at the hotel for two nights, and had a pleasant stay. The staff were really helpful in organising transportation for us, both to our next destination and to the local area. They organised transportation to a turtle sanctuary which I would recommend. Our room at the hotel was a cabana room, so we got a good view over the lagoon. One thing worth a mention is that to get to the beach you need to go on a raft pulley system over the lagoon. There is a member of staff who takes you over there, I don’t know at what times this is manned for we only used it during the day. The beaches themselves are amazing - the area itself is quiet and peaceful. If you want to get a tuk tuk into town it is cheap.

Large hotel with the only pool in the area.
From the moment we arrived we were treated very well by the staff, who bothered about our well being and were invariably pleasant and helpful. We had chosen the hotel for its nearness to the beach and the ability for us to walk in to Tangalle when we wanted. We thought and were proved right that it was far enough from the Negombo/Bentota strip to exclude the normal 'All inclusive' tourist. Although the guests often came for only a few days they were invariably pleasant, well travelled and interesting people to talk to.

Bathroom in our standard room was not nice. Out of date, not clean and full of insects. All the hotel money seems to be spent on the entrance hall and not the rooms. Food was poor / inedible and although two restaurants listed only one available.

A lovely resort when you arrive, but abit off the beaten track, Tangalle town isn't much so don't bother, but the surrounding beaches are fantastic. Had a great aryvedic massage from Pisandu. Highly recommend.

It was a great place to relax!
We got up in the morning, ate, stayed by the pool, ate by the ocean and walked on the beach! It was a very serene and calm atmosphere, just what was needed. We didn't go away from the hotel so not sure what the town was like. There is a beautiful lagoon where you can kayak and canoe. The beach is fairly deserted not full of people or buildings! I highly recommend if you just want to get away and spend some time by the pool and listening to the waved as you enjoy a meal!

Great pool and location. We didn't feel though that overall the hotel lived up to its online description and price category. Food at the hotel was particularly poor. And some of the facilities described are not exactly as they are. They don't proactively support guest, if you ask they some times helped. They did seem to over charge compared to prices we have been quoted elsewhere during our time in Sri Lanka.
