My daughter and her whole basketball team that stayed here picked up folliculitis from the indoor pool. My daughter has a stye in her eye, bumps all over her body and swimmers ear from the bacteria in the pool. I am so disappointed in how the staff managed and cleaned the hotel. For a new hotel it was extremely dirty.

All the kids in our group ended up with a rash from their pool. At one point we saw a sock floating in the pool. The trash cans were constantly overflowing. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom in the lobby. Saw towels outside someone's room for 2 days that were not picked up. They had one person working for a very busy weekend which I believe the hotel was sold out.

Check-in was very delayed due to limited cleaning staff. The front desk staff was overwhelmed and apologetic. The hotel was at capacity due to multiple sports tournaments in the State College area. The room set up was convenient for a family and the hotel itself is new. Throughout the hotel there were overflowing trash cans, lobby bathrooms were clogged and never had the trash removed or paper towels replaced. It was clear that the hotel was understaffed in terms of maintenance and upkeep. During our stay, we encountered a very rude front desk attendant. She refused to offer us a late check-out (even though the check-in was two hours delayed). She came out to yell at our group while we were eating in the lobby and continued to be rude to other customers. The following morning, the new front desk attendant offered us a late check-out. Our daughter and her entire team used the pool. Upon our arrival home, our daughter had red sores on her feet and her eyes were swollen. Within the following 24 hours, her entire body was covered in the red bumps. The entire team that stayed in the hotel and used the pool was covered in the rash. They were diagnosed with folliculitis (staph) from the pool. This hotel has a great location and the room set up is family friendly. Unfortunately, they need more staff and better upkeep.

BEWARE, DO NOT stay here! Was staying at Candlewood Suites in Bellefonte for my daughter’s basketball tournament. Should have known from my check in this was not going to end well. Check in was at 3pm, arrived at 3:40pm and was given my room. My room was not cleaned, beds were unmade and went back to lobby to get a cleaned room. When I said the beds were unmade the front desk replied back, well, is it clean? I said no of course it’s not clean and was told they only have two housekeepers and are working overtime, I need to wait! Waited well over an hour in the lobby for a room. During our stay the girls from the basketball team went swimming in the hotel’s pool, all the girls who swam came home with a doctor diagnoses of folliculitis, some completely covered some sporadic. Some girls had to go back to the doctor (two in one week) due to styes on their eyes and swimmers ear! Also, during our stay there was some suspicious activity with homeless looking people there, looking like crack heads and falling asleep during daylight on the chairs outside of the hotel. They were also in the lobby cuddling a kitten in a weird way! Corporate (IHG) has been called by the team’s parents, department of health, BBB, hotels.com, the police, and Candlewood management. Candlewoods management is denying and lying to corporate about their pool and they are not cooperating. Long story short, don’t waste your time here!

Very clean! Not well stocked. Room had just one large towel and a few small upon arrival. No hand soap in room. No dishwasher detergent. No paper towels in woman's restroom in lobby. Nothing to clean gym equipment. Gym way too hot (set to 72 degrees) no regular cream for coffee. Not real napkins for breakfast. Seemed odd a sends were scarce. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful and supplied anything we asked for. Just feel like for a hotel, it should be stocked and not is asking. Great location with good food options nearby.
