The room and decor were lovely, unfortunately for a subterranean location they really need to invest in some Aircon we were not staying on the hottest days of the recent (August 2026) heatwave but we struggled in sleep in the stifling heat despite the fan being on full blast directed at the bed. Apart from the stuffiness of the room I would recommend, great location and lovely room.

Despite being on the road the property was unexpectantly quiet. Once you get used to fact you are underground is a great place to stay. Had challenges with the door - never figured out how to close it after me when going out. Rang the number provided but nobody picked up.

DO NOT STAY HERE. This used to be the public bathrooms, it is in the middle of two busy streets, down a staircase with no windows, it is therefore of course super noise, scary and they do not say anywhere in the listing. I was unable to check in door code never worked, after contacting the property they never refunded. This is a complete scam, there is nothing cool about the experience. Scary and dangerous

Als je een unieke locatie zoekt om te overnachten in Oxford, is dit zeker iets voor jou. Als je je snel claustrofobisch voelt, niet! Gesitueerd in een ondergrondse, wat we vermoeden, oude wc-locatie (?) onder de straat, is deze eclectische 'hotel'kamer een leuke annekdote. Je moet er wel telkens de straat voor oversteken om het 'eiland' en dus de voordeur te bereiken. Wel jammer dat bij aankomst de trap nog vol met afval lag en dat dit dan niet door het onderhoudspersoneel was opgekuist toen ze de kamer waren komen opmaken voor ons verblijf. Uiteindelijk was iemand dit dan toch komen opkuisen, alsook de verdorde plantenbakken. Enkel had die persoon dan weer het afval (verdorde bladeren, zand) van de plantenbakken terug overal laten liggen. Aangezien je onder de grond/betonplaten zit, en het zeer warm buiten was, werd het ook binnen warm. Er is wel een blazer voorzien. Maar deze zorgde niet echt voor verkoeling. Ook de tv bleef vaak hangen, weer (vermoeden we) een gevolg van onder de grond te verblijven. Buiten 2 dak'ramen' (glazen vloertegels van de straat boven) zijn er geen andere ramen. Dus geen uitzichten op Oxford. Voordeel is wel dat je praktisch in het centrum van Oxford verblijft. Alle bezienswaardigheden zijn op wandelafstand gelegen. Wil je eens ergens speciaal overnachten? Ja, zeker eens doen voor 1, max. 2 nachten. Wil je wat meer comfort? Neen. Zoek verder.
