The Queens Hotel

The Queens Hotel

8/10 Good
"Room was spacious and clean, but tired. Shower is a stand in a bathtub situation. Windows very dirty, and bed was a big, but needed a little TLC. Fine, but 2/3star at best. Breakfast was good, cooked breakfast very good. Service was impeccable. Bar service slow as the Batman appeared to be in the restaurant also. Accept this is Penzance, not Paris, so I’m satisfied, but not blown away, for over £200 a night."

"The staff were amazing - welcoming, friendly, cheerful, just lovely to be around. The food was amazing. The 4 cheese tortellini in particular was out of this world. The only issue I had was the striped carpet on the stairs. For some reason, it was really disorienting. I thought it was just me (I recently got new vari-focal glasses) but my husband thought the same."

"Excellent room with sea views. Bar and restaurant combined worked well. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Evening menu slightly limited. Staff friendly and helpful. Only downside was that our room was not made up on the Saturday. Reception apologetic and room made up for the rest of our stay. Would return"

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Penzance

  1. Book for the cheapest times: Visiting Penzance on a budget is a brilliant idea, particularly in January, February, and November, when hotel prices may drop to lower prices. A stay of at least 2 to 3 days is ideal for exploring key landmarks and cultural attractions, including its scenic port, smalltown charm, rich history in fishing and sea traditions, sailing events, and local festivals. This trip offers affordable and great value for money for those keen to experience the town's unique blend of heritage and coastal adventure.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To discover last-minute deals to Penzance, visit the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals section on Hotels.com, where you may find discounted rates on hotels as your travel date approaches. By enabling email alerts or push notifications from Hotels.com, you could stay informed about flash sales and special promotions, helping you seize opportunities to save. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool in the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you're well-informed. This way, if rooms become available or prices drop, you will be among the first to know, making it easier to book a last-minute getaway.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates may help you find a more favourable rate for your stay in a Penzance hotel. For those in search of distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and may offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could help you secure a more appealing rate.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre generally tend to be more expensive. However, with Penzance's superb public transport links, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel located a bit further out that remains well-connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even some lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found.
