Pictures on the site can be misleading. The hotel looks huge. It is small, just 12 usable rooms across 4 floors. It is not convenient to taxis. We had to drag our bags about 100m across cobblestones to the stairs. We should have been told this at booking. After climbing the stairs, staff was available to help with our bags. The reception staff is very helpful and provided all the information you can ask for or need. Once in the hotel, an elevator makes getting to and from your room easy.
Though clean, the room was not as pictured. It was in need of a refresh. The walls were nicked/scruffed in numerous areas. The lighting was poor compared to pictures. The bathroom was subpar…very aged tub and sink, poorly lit, and cracked tile…very much in need of repair.
The stay included breakfast at a restaurant across the Grand Place. They should skip the breakfast and lower the room rate. Breakfast consisted of what tasted like a reheated cheese omelet, day-old croissants, and dry toast. At least the included coffee, juice, ham, and cheese tasted fresh.
We paid for a view room…a nice plus at the right time of year. As the city was setting up for a weekend celebration, our view included many trucks and the setup of stages, lighting, and sound systems…less than desirable and not worth the additional cost.
At the right time of year, this may be a good place to stay. For our stay, it wasn’t. I think we would have been more comfortable somewhere just outside of the Grand Place.
