"Low Wood Bay Resort is a fantastic hotel in an absolutely beautiful location, surrounded with great activity options and great options of its own. The hotel is very nicely finished with a historic Inn at its core surrounded by more expansive modern facilities. It houses 3 restaurant options from pub thru own restaurant to premium dining, with breakfast offered in the lovely W restaurant every day and dining options at the W pub (also with outside patio), and the premium Blue Smoke restaurant, opening with a great Afternoon Tea offering at 11.45 and finishing with great 'al a carte' up to closing time. Service at all was warm and friendly, if not always prompt or top-drawer.
It has a spa, which is set up primarily for couples, adults with only the morning session open to families with kids under 16, which was a bit disappointing.
The gem was the associated Low Wood Bay Watersports Centre and Marina directly across the road, with everything from stand-up paddle to yacht charters and including kayak, dingy and keelboat hire, all at reasonable prices.
We highly recommend Low Wood Bay, and will stay there again ourselves for sure!"
"Clean rooms,
Very polite and helpful staff,
Parking on site available,
Breakfast was freshly prepared and a choice of cereal and yogurt
Ideally located at a walking distance from town centre and lake Windermere ."
"The staff could not do enough for us, from local recommendations to speedy service at the bar whilst the late World Cup matches were on. Highly recommended to anyone staying in Windermere!!"
"We absolutely loved this property. The views, rooms, staff and especially the manager Matt were outstanding! Definitely will be back and highly recommend."
"This is a fine old achool hotel, with large clean rooms, and a friendly staff. The reception rooms and bar are nice, but while we were, were totally overrun by a wedding party.
The restaurant is okay. It is adjacent tobthe reception and the dinner is acceptable, but certainly not remarkable. Everything was a little overdone. The worst was the wedding, that had a performer signing full blast in the bar, and which was so loud the waiter could barely take our dinner order. It was extremely intrusive for all the other guests.
The breakfast here is also very good.
Suggest going to an outside restaurant if the hotel is booked out for a private event."
"The staff are Amazing, clean rooms, amazing food (albeit expensive) We enjoyed our time at the Wild Boar but and its a big but! The price of food was hard to swallow (pardon the pun)"
"What a wonderful stay we had - hidden gem literally couple of mins walk to Bowness lakes/shops/restaurants/pubs - beautiful gardens, staff so friendly and helpful, rooms full of character and had everything we needed for our stay - the breakfast was amazing - cereal, every kind of fruit and great choice of cooked breakfast too - plus private onsite parking - we'll definitely be visiting again"

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Windermere
Book for the cheapest times: The most budget-friendly time to visit Windermere is during January, February, and November, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For a fulfilling experience that allows you to explore the area’s key landmarks, cultural sites, and natural beauty, staying for at least 2 to 3 days is recommended. During your visit, you can enjoy activities such as hiking around the stunning lake, relaxing at a spa, or taking a ferry ride to appreciate the scenic views. You might also discover delightful gardens, an aquarium, and charming cocktail spots, especially on sunny days, all offering great value for money.
Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: If you're planning a trip to Windermere, you may discover savings by exploring the DealsOpens in a new window section on Hotels.com, where discounted hotel rates are available. You're more likely to see attractive last-minute offers in the Last-Minute Deals area, especially as your travel date approaches. The Hotels.com app also features Smart Shopping , a handy comparison tool that allows travellers to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you stay informed about any available price drops or room availability.
Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so having some flexibility with your travel dates might assist you in finding a more affordable stay in a Windermere hotel. For those seeking something a bit different, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and may offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher side, we can suggest alternative dates that could help you find a more favourable rate.
Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre usually tend to be pricier; however, with Windermere's superb public transport connections, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel located further afield that remains well connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
