Frederick's Lodge
"Fredericks Lodge is an oasis in Kumasi. It is a convenient distance from the airport and is more of a boutique hotel. It is impeccably clean with comfortable beds and high quality linen. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was just what we needed to start our day with a selection of Ghanaian and European options. This is my second time staying there because it is so welcoming and safe."

Sweet Garden Hotel
"Everything was going well until I had an issue at the restaurant. After I paid for my meal, the staff returned without my full change and said they didn’t have any. This kind of situation is far too common and often feels like a deliberate way of shortchanging customers. I wasn’t pleased, and I made it clear that I would have gladly tipped more than the amount withheld. Service providers can and should do better. Customers shouldn’t have to ask for their exact change, no matter how small"

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Kumasi
- Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Kumasi is during May, June, and December when hotel prices are typically lower. For a fulfilling experience that encompasses the city’s key historical landmarks and cultural attractions, including festivals, museums, temples, and wildlife parks, a stay of at least 3 to 4 days is recommended. This duration allows visitors to immerse themselves in the rich culture and history of Kumasi, making it a budget-friendly choice that offers great value for money. Prices may drop during these months, making it an ideal time for those travelling on a budget.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: For travellers heading to Kumasi, Hotels.com may offer enticing hotel deals. Visit the DealsOpens in a new window section to explore discounted rates, and check the Last-Minute Deals area for opportunities that may arise close to your travel date. You may also enable email alerts or push notifications to stay informed about flash sales. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool in the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, so you're more likely to see opportunities to save on your last-minute getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate due to factors like the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year. Therefore, being flexible with your travel dates may assist you in finding a more affordable stay in a hotel in Kumasi. If you’re seeking a distinctive experience, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised touch and sometimes better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. Should the price be on the higher end, we may suggest alternative dates that could help you discover a more favourable option.
- Consider your location: Choosing accommodation closer to major attractions or city centres may provide convenience but often tends to come with higher costs. For more affordable options, consider hotels in less central areas or neighbourhoods, striking a balance between price and accessibility to the sites you wish to visit. You might also look into independent hotels located further out, which are more likely to offer a budget-friendly and authentic experience.
