Ancient oaks drip with Spanish moss above 22 historic squares where locals gather on wrought-iron benches to watch the world pass by. Forsyth Park's iconic fountain provides the perfect backdrop for photos before exploring the riverfront, where converted cotton warehouses now house shops and restaurants. Ghost tours reveal the city's haunted reputation after dark, with guides pointing out supposedly spirit-filled mansions. The First African Baptist Church offers a powerful glimpse into history with its sanctuary dating to 1859. Don't miss the Telfair Museums or wandering through the Colonial Park Cemetery. For the best pralines, follow locals to River Street Sweets rather than the more crowded tourist spots.

"Convenient"
River Street Inn
"The hotel front desk staff was excellent as well as the maintenance team. I would rate this hotel an OVERALL 7.5. My issue which is huge is I used Valet Parking. I had a VERY early flight to depart on 6 September. I arranged the night before with valet parking to leave my car keys at the checkout desk the day before on the night of the 5th. As the valet parking attendant informed me they closed at 11pm and reopened at 6am the next, they communicated they would leave my keys at the front desk since I had to depart by 4am to catch my 650am flight on the 6th. Lo and behold, my family and I go to checkout and my rental vehicle was NOT out front as promised nor were my keys left at the front desk. I had to go retrieve my rental vehicle with the assistance of the clerk at the desk (who was excellent by the way) from where it was parked. This caused delays and panic. I am extremely disappointed given that at 10:53 pm on the 5th of September I visited the front desk and was ASSURED all was taken care of. Other than the inconvenience and panic caused by Valet, it was a great experience."
Hotel Bardo Savannah
"Loved it here so much!! The people opening the doors were so nice at the front and the check in staff was amazing! We had an issue with the AC but they did the best they could to fix it."
ANDAZ SAVANNAH, BY HYATT
"The hotel is fine. Nothing special other than the great location, but it served its purpose. The front desk and reception area give a bad impression (a bit tired-looking, messy desks, etc.), but the staff was friendly and helpful. My room was nice with a lovely view of the square, the louder side of building. I barely heard the club opposite it. If you’re a light sleeper, choose the other side. The bathroom was bright, clean and modern, though the shower was small and got water all over the bathroom floor each time I used it. I don’t think they have breakfast, but you’re surrounded by restaurants. Parking was an offensive $50/day valet. Park in a public garage instead. Overall, it’s not bad, but not great either."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Savannah
- Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Savannah is during January, November, and December, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For those looking to explore the city's historical landmarks, cultural sites, and natural attractions, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is recommended. This duration allows visitors to enjoy budget-friendly activities such as tours of historical sites, visits to museums and art galleries, and leisurely strolls around the picturesque riverfront, as well as exploring beautiful churches and shopping opportunities. With the potential for prices to drop during these months, it's a great value for money for anyone on a budget.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To uncover last-minute deals to Savannah, begin by exploring the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted hotel options as your travel date approaches. Additionally, enabling email alerts or push notifications from Hotels.com could keep you informed about flash sales and special last-minute promotions. The Smart Shopping tool available via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you’re more likely to see the best options. This way, if rooms become available or prices drop, you'll be among the first to book your spontaneous getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate based on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates may help you find a more affordable stay in a Savannah hotel. For those in search of something distinctive, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and can sometimes offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher side, we can suggest alternative dates that may help you find a more attractive rate.
- Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre generally tend to be more expensive, but with Savannah's superb public transport links, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel located further afield that is still well connected. For those eager to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
