As the title states, you get what you pay for. The overall experience wasn't terrible, but it wasn't amazing. First and foremost, the staff were friendly and helpful... But that's about it, aside from the decent WiFi(which should be standard anyways). Yes the hotel was constructed/remodeled recently but it seems like it's not maintained very well. Our room particularly there was a brown stain running down the toilet, weird specs came up from the drain and a lot of weird stains or scrapes on the wall. Water is not the hottest. A majority of the outlets didn't work nor did the wall lights. The walls are pretty thin, you can hear a conversation right outside your door and vice versa. Also, yes, the parking is as what others described. It was super sketch, very tight. If you're not patient, good luck. As for the area, if you're not used to the surrounding area, you may feel uncomfortable. It's not bad, but again, it's not great.
The hotel overall is alright. Take the higher rating reviews with a grain of salt and take the lower ones a little more seriously. Luckily the research I did set our expectations, and we were fine staying here as we were looking for low rates while in the expensive ass city.If you're absolutely needing cheap rates, staying in NY for a night, or don't care about the aforementioned above . Then I can see why this would work for people. If not, I'd suggest to look elsewhere.
