From the second that we spotted the hotel from the main road, we felt 'Yes, this is going to be AWESOME'. I was a bit dubious about staying in a 3 star hotel in the French country side, but let me assure you, dear reader, this little place is absolutely fantastic.
Marie France at reception is courteous and super efficient, immediately reserving us a table for that evenings meal. Marvellous Mathieu, one of the owners, hoisted my large suitcase up to our room in a jiffy, and what a delight the room was - very spacious, country chic - the giant double bed and multiple pillows as comfy as a cloud. We had a small entrance to our room, separate toilet and our own private bathroom with windows opening onto a scene mostly seen in magazines: a gentle gurgling lake and mountain views in the glorious country side.
I could go on forever about the beautiful surroundings, the secluded pool and jacuzzi placed underneath a cliff but words are too poor to describe such majesty.
I will, however, like to name the staff who were so helpful, polite and made us feel as though we were actually in a 5 star hotel:
Benoit - please allow him to guide you when it comes to wine selection - he knows his stuff and everything that he recommended did not disappoint.
Yann, Quentin and Baslien - thank you for being so very professional and polite in the discourse of your duties, you are all a credit to yourselves and the hotel.
To our magnificent Michelin Star Chef - thank you for sharing your art.
