We were excited to come to Nice and after reading reviews, equally excited to stay at the Hotel Victor Hugo. Gilles went out of his way to give us many excellent ideas on where to go and what to do. The hotel was clean, the breakfast was great and amply supplied and I highly recommend for anyone planning a trip to Nice.

I enjoyed my stay at Victor Hugo. The hotel is very convenient and in a good area.
My bedroom was the smallest ( and cheapest) but it was ideal for one person. I enjoyed the breakfast although it was crowded at times.
Overall a good choice.

Gilles is a wonderful, friendly host, eager to help with everything from restaurant recommendations to beach supplies. The location is a quick walk to the beach and across from a tram station, as well as a lovely 25 minute walk along the promenade to the old city. The hotel is comfy and quirky, and feels very safe.

We loved our stay......
Hotel V.H. is brilliantly placed for tramway and thus easy journey from airport, very doable walk into old town and access to prom . It is in a very quaint, quirky and beautiful building, occupying the ground floor.Once you become accustomed to this, it is actually VERY good value for money.Gilles, who runs the Hotel, is very pleasant and helpful, and has a great sense of humour. We were very happy with our stay, and wouldnt hesitate to return to Hotel Victor Hugo.

Perfect location near a tram station, so getting about was easy.
Excellent host who was friendly and very helpful, and spoke fluent English, despite me wanting to practice my French!!!
Only a small number of rooms so the host could be very attentive, and the excellent breakfast could be taken in the room if desired.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

It's near everything: the Promenade des Anglais, restaurants, tram station a couple of yards away. The hotel manager/owner is very knowledgeable. He made me a map and told me about the best things to see in the area and how to get there.
Highly recommend.
