Great spot 2 blocks from the beach. Fairly quiet. Many restaurants nearby were government owned, providing cheap bland food. No grocery stores. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Overall Varadero is designed for government all inclusive resorts, and independent travelers will find it hard to explore. Beach was beautiful. No life, but endless shallow clear sandy waters. I would probably check out bay of pigs next time.
