Very nice b&b within walking distance to city auditorium, restaurants and shopping downtown with unique stores. Owners were very helpful and allowed our 5 year old granddaughter to stay on last minute decision. Would definitely stay again.

In a lovely area across from the park. Plenty of dining option within walking distance. The room was fine but lacking in natural light as it was on the lower floor. It was a beautiful house though and provided water and snacks for guests which we appreciated. Would definitely book again.

This is a beautiful old place. And has been kept up so very well by the owners. It has modern conveniences but you are still surrounded by history. We loved it. Breakfast was very reasonable and so good. The company was excellent. We would definitely stay again.

It’s a cool historical property. Breakfast fast was good. Location was great. Close to downtown. Only negative thing was that the mattress was horrible to sleep on.

Our hosts were amazing! We moatly interacted with Patricia, and she was delightful! We felt right at home and all museums were within walking distance. The Military Park was quite close as well! Breakfasts were wonderful, and we enjoyed the company of other guests as we dined. I would hughly recommend booking this beautiful property when you are in the Vicksburg area. A huge bonus: Patricia, one of the owners, is also an author and a wonderful conversationalist!!

BAER HOUSE - back in time (in a good way!)
I have never stayed in a "Bed and Breakfast" in the United States that lived up to that description until staying at the Baer. This B&B was stunning historic beauty from the doors to the floors, and our hosts were absolutely lovely! This hotel is definitely for leisure, not a business trip. The front desk has ltd hours, so arrange checking beforehand. Also, the home-cooked breakfast is served family style with other guests at 8:30 am sharp. I loved that! The other guests around our giant 300-years-old breakfast table were from Italy, Germany, Colorado, and beyond. After only two days of communal breakfasts we were trading stories and meeting up for coffees. I have stayed at the Mulberry (down the street) several times and that place is great for a modern-cool kinda vibe, but if you really want to get the feel of what it might have been like to live in a post-war era family home, then this is the place for you! Our hostess Patricia gave us a full oral history of the home (with historical Vicksburg context) at our last breakfast. The Baer is only a few blocks from the main street in Vicksburg and there is ample, secure parking. One nice touch was that they posted daily notices in the lobby of which nearby-restaurants were open. The one suggestion I would make is that in the room described as having a "sitting area", there could be an extra chair or two so that you could comfortably hang out with a few people around the table and not all on one couch.
