4/10 Fair

Not worth it
Hotel was not as advertised and was disappointing at best - "balcony" was one foot wide, "view" was of river but cruise ships blocked it the entire time, neighborhood was sketchy, room was small, no hot water only warm, lighting in room was awful - all on or all off, restaurant only served set menu and no room services at all. I would nto stay here again or recommend it to anyone.

Conveniently Located With Lots of Cool History!
We chose The Editory Riverside Hotel for both our arrival in Lisbon and after we returned from a few days in The Algarve region. The staff is friendly and accomodating! The hotel has a cool history and is right across from the river. A short walk to the Alfama and Baixa historical areas. Lots of great cafes directly behind the hotel too!

The Editory personnel is fabulous! They are knowledgeable, friendly and very professional. Obrigado! The (City of Lisbon) construction around the hotel is getting worse. I knew about the ongoing project at the time of booking. However, it is now so bad that access to the hotel is rather restricted. The construction is also a detriment for the development of good dining establishments. It is not the fault of the hotel, however. It is impossible to beat the proximity of the hotel to the cruise port (max, 10 minute walk). Also, the hotel being at a bus, rail and subway hub cannot be beat. Breakfast is great and the dinner options have improved. This stay was not my first and I would stay there again.

Service leaves a LOT to be desired. Bad views.
Paid to have an upgraded room with a view of the water, only to have a cruise ship there the entire time blocking it. I understand it’s beyond hotels control, but they can warn you so you don’t waste your money on a view you may not get. I went to check out and a group of 10pm wakes in just before I could check out at 10:15am. As they wanted to check in early to leave their bags, the ONE person on the desk allowed them to do that while they had me wait more than 35 mins to check out. I finally gave up and walked out.

Pleasant hotel surprise in Lisbon
We didn't realize we were booking a hotel that was in a train station–that's not obvious from Google Maps. But there were none of the usual train station downsides. What were historic train offices have been beautifully converted into a chic boutique hotel preserving historic details. The location on the edge of the Alfama district was perfect despite some necessary climbing to get into the heart of it and the Graca zone. To be expected in Lisbon! Being in the station offered a coffee shop and taxis on site, plus train connections to Porto and other nearby areas. There are a few cute restaurants right on the street with more decent ones within a few blocks. The hotel bedding was quite comfortable, with obviously double paned windows blocking most of the train and street noise. The bathrooms were very modern but a bit tight, we bumped into some corners but they were generally quite nice with the shower and closet on one side, the toilet and sink on the other side of the room. Comfy shower robes and free minibar beverages added to the niceties in the room. The staff of the hotel was smiling and helpful, offering excellent service the entire time. One tip–the cheaper rooms have an odd view of the train station roof and construction cranes but really nothing else. The rooms on the river side of the hotel have incredible water views and are totally worth the extra spend. We'll be back!

I booked this hotel for my wife and daughter as they stopped over from Spain to Canada for two days to enjoy Lisbon. They reported that the hotel is clean, quiet (water-facing room), well-kept, and functional. They were delighted with the basics such as wifi, air conditioning and staff responsiveness. We will likely make this our go to hotel for trips back and forth. Highly recommended!

Several Issues during stay
Overall good hotel. Location is good to walk to restaurants and waterfront. Nicely greeted and asked if we needed assistance. We had an issue with the water pressure and 1st day there was no water in the morning. Also the hotel is an old train station and you will hear trains come in and leave. During our last night, we were woken up at 3am by extremely noisy next door. I had to make a call to front desk to inform of the conversations. Unfortunately they continued longer, and we did not sleep. Next morning the Mgr was not available to speak and we needed to depart to the airport. I will not be returning to the hotel.
