Good price for a quick stay
For one night or two, business, it works. very clean place and comfortable bed, but the room is small if you need to stay there longer or work in the room. The air conditioning was very noisy as was the fan in the bathroom. but would recommend it if you need just to sleep.

Ok but not great.
The room was clean. The fan in the bathroom was extremely loud and connected to the light switch so no option to turn it off. The air conditioner turned on and off all night and extremely loud as well. Finally two large garbage bags were in the elevator before I left for dinner and then when I returned.

Basic hotel in a great position
The hotel was okay. Great position, the room was big enough for one (tho I live in Japan so it basically was the same size as my apartment) and had all the basic things you need in a room for a decent price. Staff was polite. Just a few things about the room: the bathroom fan automatically turns on with the light and it's really loud. The safe didn't work (it was locked and impossible to reset). The closet smelled terrible, making all the clothes smell the same way. The noise level was okay but you can really hear anything that goes on in the corridor, luckily I got a corner room which was very quiet. No problem with hot water as others reported, tho it took a while for it to come, or with cleaniness. Would recommend if you just need a room to sleep.

Decent stay
Quaint room but clean; comfortable bed. In walking distance to Metro and National Mall area. My only complaints are the inconsistent a/c that seemed to shut off & change temperatures whenever it wanted to, and very tight rainfall head standup shower. No room to maneuver around, and if your hair can't get wet daily, this will pose a problem.

Pros and Cons
Pros - Great location close to metros and White House, good casual food options close by (esp. Nerds and Nibblers). Renovated bathroom & room - loved the floors (no smelly, germy, dirty carpets!) and the charm of the room, especially the brick wall detail. And the price was right. Con - location made it a bit noisy from outside, sirens, etc., (oh, the windows didn't open, not sure if this is a pro or con for you) . The air conditioner was very noisy. It sounds like a small complaint, but when trying to sleep, the noise of the AC was disturbing. . My other complaint was the lack of an exhaust fan in the bathroom. Also, I was a solo traveler, so the small size of the room wasn't an issue, but for two people, it may be a factor. Also, there was no storage in the room besides the closet - no drawers anywhere, and with more than one person, keeping out suitcases would take up all the floor space. ending on a positive, the bed was very comfortable. Since I come to DC to be out and about, and usually travel solo, most of the issues would not preclude me from staying again, except maybe the AC. oh, and management, if you read these, Having a ramp for guests to be able to push suitcases up / down the lobby stairs would be a huge help (the lobby is down several stairs from ground floor, there is wheelchair access, but no ramp for seniors, people with walking difficulties, or for making luggage carrying easier.
