Not what I expected or value for money.
The location is very central and convenient and close to Holborn tube station. I loved the decor and ambiance. At the check-in I was kept waiting longer than I should have. Other guests were offered a coffee/tea while they waited but I wasn't so I asked a member of staff who was serving coffee if I could also please have one. She said she would get one for me but she never came back. The room was small (but that's what I paid for I guess) and there were a number of small things that let it down such as no hooks in the shower room to hang a towel; the light switches for the shower room and toilet were on the wrong side of the door; the TV was so huge that it protruded so far off the wall that it was impossible not to bump into it when walking past; the shower leaked into the bedroom. All small things but when I'm paying GBP450 a night I expect better attention to detail. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful whilst others were not. I came back to the hotel with a friend after a night out at about 1am for a night cap only to find that the hotel bar closes at midnight. Getting a taxi outside the hotel is almost impossible so I'd strongly recommend pre-booking one in advance. Check-out was easy and pleasant. Conclusion: it was nice to experience this hotel but there's better choices in London for similar cost.

Nice Hotel in a Good Convenient Central Location
Very nice hotel in a very convent location in London. Easy walk to lots of sites, theater, museums (including the British Museum) and good restaurants and bars. Also just a 1/4 block from the Holborn Underground Station which is services by the Piccadilly and Central lines. You can take the Piccadilly line directly to and from Heathrow Airport which is very convenient. The rooms were not as “special” as maybe you would expect them to be based on the ratings, but it was comfortable and decent size. The beds were also pretty comfortable. The two restaurants in the hotel are good and they have a really nice cocktail bar. The immediate surrounding couple of blocks are not too special (besides being convenient), but you get beyond that and you get to some great areas to eat, drink and shop. Overall, I’d recommend this hotel if you are get it for a decent price.

Overpriced
I'm at a loss to understand the ratings of this place. The lift is slow and feels like something from the last century. The rooms are designed in a way that I found very strange. Rooms don't even have an iron. The staff stare at you when you choose to get deliveroo for dinner rather than eat at the incredibility expensive restaurant The bed is good and the pillows are nice. This place is fine, but based on the price point - is not worth it. At their room rate, you should get a far better outcome.

Simply the Best
True hidden gem. Staff were warm, inviting and went beyond to ensure guest comfort. They were all knowledgeable about this historic landmark and took pride in their knowledge about the property. Any shortcomings of the property due to its age and required historic preservation was easily found to be insignificant given the warmth and beauty of the establishment and each of the staff there, from the door personnel, to reception and management and in particular the dining staff under the leadership of Constantine. The rooms themselves were eloquently decorated historic timepieces with five star amenities and size. It would be a mistake to miss this property whether traveling on business or for rest and relaxation.
