Reception is not open at all before 3pm - so if you arrive early, there is no one there to leave your bags with. You have to pay extra for towels, more like a hostel than a hotel. It may have been the people staying on my floor, but I found it very hard to sleep. There was a lot of noise at night, and early in the morning. I guess the walls were quite thin. Showers were down on the ground floor. It was a bit awkward having to walk through reception to get there. There were only 3 showers but I never had to wait for one. Location was fine, an easy walk to Shin-Imamiya and the JR line, although it felt a bit dodgy at night near the station.

Greeted by friendly staffs. Very helpful. Pleasantly comfortable and cozy place. Affordable. Convenient train station within one minute of walking distance. Thin walls but overall a great place to stay. :)

    Thank you

Great location near a subway station and plenty of local stores. Near an awsome coffee shop and a cool bar that plays vinyls

This place is in a good location, close enough to transit yet far enough away to be in a quiet neighborhood. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The rooms need some better cleaning and facilities need some work but for the price, perfectly acceptable.

The place is labelled as a hotel but it is really a very low budget hostel. Reception only opens at 3pm. When I arrived early the front desk was locked up with no one attending it. I was hoping to drop off my luggage and explore the city until my room was ready but I couldn't. In addition there is no luggage or shoe loclers One shower has running hot water and the Wi-Fi is garbage, I ended up using my data the whole time. The rooms aren't ventilated nor are air filter machines provided so you have to open your window to air it out. It gets very noisy so bring ear plugs, the "hotel" doesn't provide any or anything else.

    Cheap, cheerful and recommended!

This was my second budget hotel stay in Japan and the first had made me nervous (the photos online of this hotel are also a bit outdated I think) but Hotel Lucky is more than comfortable enough for short term stays. We chose the bunk room and while it wasn't huge, it had air con, a desk, fridge, tv and brand new bunk bed to boot, I actually had a fantastic nights sleep. The three shower rooms and one (men only) bathroom are shared but all are new and clean, shampoo and soap are provided and towels are for sale from the front desk (manned by a very welcoming man who speaks impeccable English) for 350 yen or a bit over £2. A microwave, hot water dispenser, cutlery, crockery, cooking hob, vending machine and hairdryer are also all available in the common areas. Dobutsuen mae station's 8th exit is just around the corner making it easy to jump on the subway line straight to key stops like shin osaka and namba. The staff also were arranging an outing to a festival when we left so there's the chance to socialise with your fellow travellers too. Overall, for a tenner each for one night in a great location in Osaka, Hotel Lucky is definitely recommended!
