Beautiful property grounds with nice pool and small gym. Do not expect a white sand beach because there isn’t one. Except for the front desk staff-who always seemed “Stressed out and unfriendly”, the Female Manager, Housekeepers, and restaurant staff are all great! Very polite with the welcoming Caymanian smile This island is known for!

UNIQUE AS IT IS QUIET AND PRIVATE. I DIDNT LIKE THE FACT THAT IT WAS QUITE FAR FROM THE MAIN BEACH AND ACTIVITY AREA

I did not like their check in policy. The check out is 11 AM and they don't allow you to check in until 4. I think their shuttles should run later because the cabs are so expensive.

Property was older - dining area was dated and in obvious need of repairs. Hotel was on other side of island. Had to pay for a taxi everyday or tip the driver. Limited dining options. No lifeguard on duty. The hotel was located by a beach but it was rocky and no one could use it. Our room smelled like an ashtray. Overall very disappointing.

I have kind of a mixed review about this resort. There's things I wish I knew before booking that I didn't read in other reviews. The pros: It's quiet. This is not on 7 mile beach so you're away from the super touristy area, surrounded by a golf course. It's still a very pretty view but you don't get the beach area & there's a million speed bumps going to the resort. There's a free shuttle that will take you anywhere 15 minutes or less away but only from 10am-630pm. If you want to go anywhere before or after, say for dinner at night, you have to plan to take the shuttle and get a taxi back which will cost you at least $20 and that's just for the places nearby. The drivers of these shuttles are SUPER nice so it was a great experience otherwise! Staff at the resort & resturant were also very nice & food was great! The cons: I had no idea that we were staying at the holiday inn resort. I still have no idea why it's even called grand caymanian. You literally walk right to go to grand caymanian and left to go to holiday inn but they're exactly the same, with check in at The Holiday Inn. The hallways smelled bad, like really bad mildew. Our room wasn't very clean when we got in it. Very dated. We said something and they cleaned everyday. If you plan on doing excursions make sure they will come pick you up at this resort. One of the excursions we did picked us up however for the stingray tour, we had to pay for a taxi to another resort on 7 mile beach just to get picked up.

Rooms were large and modern. Bathrooms were also large and modern. Property was nicely landscaped and well kept. East side of the island is much quieter and you enjoy the Cayman sunrise every morning. The only downside is there was no real beach and the rocks near the water could use to be cleaned up a bit.

Our king size bed was sagging in the center as there were no supports, we were moved to a different room. We could hear the people above us. No offer of credit was given.

Where to start? First of all, we had to ask to have our rooms serviced, and even when we did, they forgot and we had to ask again. Apparently this "resort" is a Holiday Inn on one side and the Grand Camanian on the other side... but all managed together. The GC side is a time-share and they said they're not used to cleaning the rooms on that side because it's time-share and people on that side have extended stays. Ok, great, I've owned a time-share before with another company and they still cleaned the rooms at least every 2-3 days without anyone asking. Next, and probably most important, we experienced the 7.7 earthquake while there. Nothing the staff could have done about that, obviously, but after the quake... there was nothing. Not a single shred of notification or anything from the staff. No one came around and asked if anyone was injured, needed any help... nothing. We found out on our own a tsunami warning was issued and what to be on the lookout for. Yeah, your own safety on vacation is your own responsibility, but at least SOME concern/news/guidance from the staff should have been given. Even a few staff members we spoke to commented that the management should have done something to notify the guests of what to expect (aftershocks/tsunami) or what to do/where to go if any of those things happened.
