Castaway Resort Koh Lipe

Definitely not a place for a solo traveler. Mostly couples here so it’s hard to meet people. Their restaurant/resort is an awesome hangout spot. The huts are..... okay. It doesn’t cool down too much, and you should bring bug spray!

My wife and I spent 7 nights in a Big Beach Front Breezy bungalow and absolutely loved it. Perfect location and superb view. The bungalows are fairly basic so if you are looking for luxury, look elswhere.The lack of hot water for showers was not a problem for us as the weather was hot and a cool shower was quite refreshing. The perfect relaxation spot really. Reception/Restaurant/Bar/ Lounge area is lovely with a very chilled out feeling. The staff were fantastic, very helpful and always smiling, also some European staff on reception to help with queries.The facilities throughout the resort are well looked after. My only negative comment is regarding the mosquito/insect problem. Although the beds have nets, we did leave with quite a few bites, but this is not just a Castaway problem, but the island overall. Overall we had a wonderful holiday at the Castaway and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.Looking forward to visiting Koh Lipe and The Castaway again!

There are so many mosquitoes and sandflies, which I learned I am allergic to during my stay at Castaway. Although it is evident that this is a big problem, as other guests have complained in their reviews, Castaway hasn't taken any measures. There is no screen, and our mosquito net had a lot of holes. Although we had to keep the doors and the windows closed, every day, we got beaten more and more. My entire body became like the arm in the picture. Sandfly bites are seriously itchy and painful. It was a disastrous Christmas vacation for me, and I was quite relieved to leave Castaway.

Lovely place, friendly and helpful staff. A bit hot with only a fan in the room, but the cosy ness of the bungalows kind of made up for it☺️

Everything was really good and the massage was the best I have ever had! Very relaxing, nice and calm environment. The downside was the comfort of the bed. It was so uncomfortable that we couldn’t get any sleep at all. The pillows were also the same. So unfortunately even though everything else was pretty awesome, the 2 nights at the resort was enough for us.
