They never said this was a student accommodation, they were so many students that kept on knocking at our door. It was so annoying, even the security kept on harassing us to say we are making noise even threatened to switch off our lights while the students were making noise. They were even throwing bottles outside windows. Bad experience!! :(

Nice hotel close to Waterfront
Overall I think that hotel's location is nice and very close to e.g. Waterfront, Lion's head, Table mountain etc. What I didn't like that much is the entrance to this hotel. There's still renovation work going on and you don't really have a feeling that there is a hotel up on the 5th floor. It was also very noisy in the evening, because of all the restaurants in that street. Room, however, was very clean and the room attendant cleaned it every day. Very friendly staff! I am sure at some point the renovation will stop, so I would recommend this hotel to others.

DISASTER!!! DON'T WALK AWAY FROM THIS ONE, RUN!!!!
Room was broken into, I have photos of smashed door lock. Constant dust from ceiling, drilling noises and construction blows and hammers through the late night and early morning hours. Sewage leaking through the windows into the wood floors. I also have photos and actual film footage of this daily mess. Front desk clerks who are upstairs in dark rooms have no clue what is happening or what to do! I rented a room that was supposed to have a stove or hotplate for my 4 week stay, to save me from buying hot meals consistently, so I can save on food. The hotplate was installed 3 days before my departure. Th elevator going up or down as you enter the building is another horror story! Each night pray that you are not riding it with street vagabonds who hang out in front of the building and simply enter when the single-security guard is exhausted, distracted or decides to take a break or stroll. That elevator right at the building entrance--practically on the front steps of the building entrance attracts all sorts of characters looking to rip off foreigners and hotel guests. You walk in and they simply jump on the ride with you and start casing you out. Creepy when they actually follow you to your door to identify where you are staying. This location the Rhino or Hippo or whatever it calls itself is designed to entrap foreign travelers looking to stay within city limits and proximity to down town. It is a cesspool and abode to get exploited. Traveler be WARNED!!!!!

Clean, affordable, very nice staff!
I enjoyed my stay at the Happy Rhino Hotel. All the staff were warm and friendly, from the security men to the receptionists and even the cleaners. They were always ready to help and gave us useful information.

Cheap clean Great location
It's located on the 7th floor elevator only goes to fifth and is under construction making it noisy at times. However it's got a great location close to long street . Which is great for partying . The rooms are clean and nice . Staff are friendly Andy helpful . I really like it here . The price is amazing for valu

Very Disappointing Hotel
My wife & I did not stay even 1 night at hotel. on arrival we had to carry our bags up 4 flights of stairs. they could not find our booking so I had to log on to show booking & that it was paid in full. the building is under construction & building materials all in parking area. only 1 elevator was working & was missing buttons & also got stuck with people inside for over 30min. I will not go back to this hotel & Hotels.com should remove hotel from listing. on leaving I carried our bags down to car as I did not trust elevator. Moutie from JHB South Africa

I arrived late and there was No Reception, security handing out keys in your room, only 1 towel in the room. Good Value for money and room very neat and clean. Button on lift for ground floor was missing so you could only get to the 1st floor and then walk down a maze in unsafe area to get to ground floor.
