Exceptional
Extremely friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast with lots of choices, including made-to-order items. Rooms are rather small, though that seems to be the norm in Kathmandu (not my first trip there), but very clean and well maintained; a fitness center was a welcome feature, given the practical implausibility of going for a run in Thamel.

Neat and Clean
The rooms are on the smaller side, but a very modern, neat and clean hotel. We like our room cold, and since we visited in the Feb, the ac was not on.

The staff were 'over the top'. In India, this hotel was a pleasant surprise. The dining room and chefs were 1st class.

Poor
Marriott has lost its standard in Kathmandu Nepal
the electricity supply would cut off 3x a day. the AC is not working properly. i was so starving that I agreed to pay NPR1100 for breakfast the first day since I made early check in, the porridge is as cold as my nose; guys, the food warmer was invented long time ago duh ! the stir fried veggies is too salty ( salt are on sale maybe ) ... you would have to request for a room slippers ;( the rooms are not sound proof and I was place in front of the lift, so you could just imagine , everyday, I slept at 4am, just hearing the noise of every guest that would use the lift. from the head board, you can hear the conversation from the other room. u can even count how many times they open and close the cabinet's sliding door. Marriott at its worst in Kathmandu :(

The staff of the hotel made our trip unforgettable! Everybody is so friendly and willing to help. There are two names that stood out: The head chef Deepak who is wonderful And always aiming to please the guests with his wonderful food, he made us his specialty soup which is to die for! And Pasang (I think this is her name), she always had her smile on every time we needed something from the front desk! Thank you Fairfield Marriott for your hospitality!!

Good
Great location but quite expensive for a 3 star hotel in this area and the King bed is definitely only a standard double size. Hotel is otherwise fairly well appointed. Breakfast is good with several options available on demand including eggs and dosas. Had one interesting experience when the receptionist ordered us a taxi and tried to claim it would be 1500, but when we asked her to negotiate on our behalf she managed to get it down to 500. On the return leg of the trip we picked a random taxi and asked him for his price which was only 700 on first attempt, which we managed to get down to 600. Either the receptionist did not know the taxi fees, or she was trying to collude with the driver. The next day a different receptionist sorted us a taxi to the airport for the same price we paid on the way out (700) without any issues and even tried to further negotiate with the driver for us. Overall the hotel was OK but nothing special.
