8/10 Very good

The view from the room was fantastic. It was really wonderful to wake up to the volcano. The staff is friendly and the breakfast was always great. The grounds is also very pretty with many different trails and a lot of different birds and flowers to look at.

Nice Mountain Property isolated from the busy town
We would come back again, but for multiple nights to enjoy the hiking and views more directly on the property. The lodge is a quick 25 minutes from La Fortuna, so you can choose to base from the lodge and avoid the more basic hotel options unless you are seeking the resort properties with onsite hot springs.

Great staff, beautiful place
We took advantage of the guided walks from the lodge. Our guide for both walks was Christian who did a fabulous job. Very knowledgeable. We also arranged for a bird walk but were sick the morning of the walk. Jack worked very hard to arrange another walk on a later day. He arranged a walk guided by Nestor who was an awesome bird guide. We saw 66 different birds in the two hour walk. Only downside was we were not told we needed reservations to eat breakfast and dinner which made for awkward moments when we arrived at the restaurant.

Pre-Thanksgiving stay
Room was much smaller than it appeared in photos which was tough for four people but the staff and food made up for anything the room lacked. Dinner was expensive $150-$200 but very good. The night walk was a lot of fun. Our guide was fabulous. Smoothies were yummy. My guys enjoyed their spa treatments but they did not expect to be in a room together. A bit awkward for 16 & 26 year olds. The road to the resort to unpaved and really rough. Go slow.

Beautiful hotel and wonderful staff. The grounds are immaculate and the eco diversity is top notch! You don’t have to go far for trails. We were so close to the volcano! Pretty far from the town and other activity, but that didn’t bother us.

What a truly unique and amazing place this is! We chose the volcano view room and it was absolutely stunning. We woke up each morning to the amazing view and an incredible number of tropical birds, Tucans, Parrots, Oropendola....entertaining us during our morning coffee. The property was amazing, the hiking trails are well maintained and inviting with the best viewing of wildlife we saw anywhere we went. The guided walks were amazing and the guides were fantastic. The food in the restaurant was delicious and the staff could not have been more friendly and accomodating. I highly recommend Arenal Observatory Lodge for the best experience in the Arenal area. THANKS to all there for making our vacation better than we expected!!!

Absolutely incredible!
Arenal Observatory is amazing! We made it to Arenal hours before check-in time and Jack was so kind - he gave us our cards for pool towels, a map of the property, all the information we needed to explore until the restaurant was open for lunch. And the restaurant - incredible views and delicious food! The grounds are beautiful and full of wildlife. We saw coatis, spider and white faced capuchin monkeys, toucans, agoutis, and I don't know how many other kinds of birds and butterflies. We swam in the pool, took a hike to the waterfall and hanging bridge, and woke up to amazing views of the volcano. Next time we come back to Costa Rica we will be staying here!

Excellent! I normally don’t give reviews but this hotel deserves one. We were amazed with the volcano’s view, the trails and waterfall. We saw so many birds and animals and the service was great too. Nice and friendly people ready to assist you in anyway possible. The restaurant has good food too.
