Good for tourist without a guide.
Francisco is very informative, his advise is as good as a local tourist guide. The route he recommended and marked on local map can be trusted and followed.

A little treasure
I love love love this B&B - charming. It was centrally located and my room was clean - two very important features for me. The rooftop patio had a spectacular view of Lisbon, I could have sat there and basked in the view all day. Francisco was extremely friendly and helpful. He pointed me in the direction of some of Lisbon's magic (sunset sailing adventure). Thank you for a wonderful stay. I'll be back!

Satisfactory at best
I want to be as fair as possible here because I do believe that overall, it’s not a bad choice. My biggest complaint is the quality of the mattress and most especially the pillows. I realize that I’m bringing my American level of expectation - not always a good thing. The pillows were two decorative sofa type pillows and what was supposed to be the main pillow for sleeping was a lumpy bag of stuffing. It was simply a very old and well used pillow. But actually my biggest compliant was that it wasn’t very clear how to get into the establishment. When I arrived, I couldn’t enter the appropriate address due to front door being locked. After pressing the call button the buzzer for quite some time, I was buzzed in. But, there was no clear place to go. Finally I saw a sign that indicated the patrons could use the lift and sort of told you where it was. I got in the elevator but so no clear indication of which floor to go to. Later I noticed a small sticker, like that a child might apply mischievously, near the button for floor 4. The button clearly said The House. However, I had ignored that due to thinking it childish playfulness. So, I finally go to 4th floor and go the the well marked door and rang the bell. A kind woman who spoke no English came and showed me in. He than called someone and gave me the phone. I spoke to a very kind young man named Joāo. He apologized for not being there, asked if I could go park the car and he would meet me there in 15-20 minutes. All good then.

Nice B&B in a residential area
Great stay at this B&B. The room is a good size for Europe. The beds were comfortable. The staff are warm and welcoming, and they provide some good tips. The breakfast is quite delicious (especially the bread and the yogourt). The eggs are made to order. The roof top terrace is really a nice bonus (for the view, or simply to relax and take a drink). This B&B is located about 15 minutes walk from metro station Rato. It is only a few minutes away from the tram 28 line, as well as the Estrela Basilica. We stayed in the Boys room, which does not have an in room bathroom. The bathroom is just outside, but reserved for our use only. We did not have any issues with this. The bathroom was very clean.

Joâo, the manager when I checked in, could not have been nicer, more personable, professional, and accommodating. He really went out of his way to make sure that my very brief stay was comfortable. My room was very clean, comfortable, and the views were fantastic. TheHouse was a little treasure--it is affordable, well situated, well managed, and peaceful. I was there in June, and I plan on staying there again in July. My one and only concern is that the rooms are not as insulated as I would have liked inside the building. I could definitely hear people opening and closing their doors--so if you have inconsiderate neighbors their comings and goings might wake you up if you are a light sleeper. On the other hand, the breakfast buffet starts early and last until mid-morning so you can always grab some great breakfast foods and catch up on the news in the delightful reading room.
