It's Not Possible
They have a button on the phones called "Whatever Whenever", but when you call asking for anything it is more like the "It's Not Possible" button. Its not possible to check you in before 4pm (not 3 as indicated), to help with museum tickets, to get a reservation at the hotel restaurant and it definitely wasn't possible to fix the maintenance problems in the room. The hotel is old, needs maintenance in the rooms, the elevators only work sometimes, there is no lobby to sit in and enjoy a coffee, the people in the front desk are the least friendly I have ever seen in a hotel. I don't know how this is considered 5 stars and I certainly would be embarrassed as Marriott to have this hotel with my name on it.

Wouldn't stay here again
Great location and breakfast, but it ends there. #1 - it took 30+ calls to the font desk to get through and we even called the exterior line. We called at various times and no one picked up. #2 - the A/C and lights in our room turned off every 30 mins. When we finally got through to the front desk, they sent someone over. He said that's how the rooms are build. So, this means the A/C would go off after 30 mins, too. What kind of hotel does that? We had to ask for a fan so we had some kind of cool air on us at night. #3 - in the restaurant for breakfast, we were seated and we waited 10 mins before anyone acknowledged us. And then, when someone came over, they seemed shocked that no one had asked for our drink order. #4 - the light sensor on the closet won't work and the light stayed on all the time, even when closed. There's no way to manually turn it off. What an annoyance! #5 - the pillows are absolutely horrible. You have to stack 3 on top of each other to equal a non-down pillow. PLEASE offer hard, non-down alternatives! Ultimately, all of these little things added up and it became one of the worst hotel experiences. We would expect a W to be more responsive in general and to have the best accommodations for its guests. For the money we paid, it wasn't worth it.

Shameful discriminatory hotel!
5*’s??? How can a hotel claim 5, when they discriminate so blatantly and partner with the Porter restaurant where if u r not White, you are not welcome! It is disgusting behavior with rude staff. I addressed with GM, and she was embarrassed by this, so hopefully they will address. If you are lgbt, if u are of a race that isnt White, if you are not younger and like to “party”, you will not be welcome here. Sad, sad, sad that this is how the W brand shows up in Amsterdam.
