They overbook, and scam you with a windowless room
Booked the hotel for a 1 night stay to meet up with an old friend. Upon checking in i was informed i had been "upgraded", to which i informed the staff, "so long as it still has a window"... i hate rooms with no windows. Sure enough, i get up to the room, and it has windows.... headed back down to reception.... "why" i asked? "This is upgrade, better room" (upgrade meaning it was a measly 18 sqm as opposed to 15sqm... laughable!) "I don't want an upgrade.... i want MY room" "full, so we upgrade you" Now this goes on and on and i am getting nowhere.... all i can do is accept that this hotel is OVERSELLING rooms, then "upgrading" customers to less desirable rooms! It's a scam, and i am sick of it happening in the dingy Bangkok "hotels" It is typical Thai customer (non)service! In the morning upon check out i complain again to a different lady on reception. She told me that they moved me to the room i didn't want for my own convenience, as the rooms with windows are very noisy outside.... absolute horse****! If that was the case, why didn't i have the choice to accept the so called noise.... because it isn't true, they over book the nice rooms, then fob off the sub standard ones to the people checking in later in the day. I have stayed in much noisier soi's in Sukhumvit, no problem! The lady offered me a 10% discount for my next stay (yeah, like that will happen), which i have now passed on to a mate that i don't really like that much lol.
James, th1 night trip
