My husband and I have been staying at Carmel Fireplace Inn for several years now. I would say that this past stay was our 5th stay at Carmel Fireplace Inn. In general, every stay has been very good. It’s a great location, the fireplace is great, and the rooms are always clean.
Given our previous stays and past experiences, I was disappointed in our recent check in experience. In past check-ins, I gave the confirmation email and provided my drivers license as ID and all went smoothly in 5 minutes or less. However, at my recent check-in, I was asked to provide proof that the charge was on my credit card. Unfortunately I did not have the credit card I used to charge the room with me, as I did not need to provide it based on my past check-ins. I was asked to cancel the original booking; and then re-book a new reservation using another credit card; all of which resulted in a 40 minute check-in process. This to me was unnecessary and inefficient. I was disappointed that our mini vacation to Carmel started off poorly.
Despite the above, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Carmel Fireplace Inn. The room was was clean and the staff was friendly. We look very forward to returning.
