    No HOT water , I called front desk they said lie to saying it’s normally working they will fix it. First time this has happened they said .We will fix it tomorrow. When your looking at 4 star hotel, hot or even warm water should be very least they can provide. Sadly now in Santa Marta Best Western and same problem no hot or warm water . Front desk saying same thing . Telling me to run water for 5 mins until it’s hot and even tried that . Both hotel continue to lie and say they are going to fix it.

    Casa Carolina describes itself as a safe boutique hotel in the colonial Santa Marta. Far from the truth. The hotel is in a street that is dangerous to walk even as early as 6:30pm. We were assaulted with a knife for our money. After we informed the hotel personnel , we were told of another couple guest at the hotel that were also assaulted the night before. When the police arrived they told us how that street was not safe because drug dealings. Please share this with posible future clients for this property. We have used Expedia as a secure site to go for information and reservations . Never disappointed, don’t let us down now . Alma Lleras & James Thompson

    While the staff did everything they could to make our stay pleasant nobody told us that the hotel was a building site. According to the hotel they were undergoing “preventative maintanance”. However having about 12 to 15 workmen painting, plastering, re-varnishing floors etc, having areas of the hotel closed off and having to ask workmen to move ladders to get to our room was not what we expected. Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the old part of town but check first that the builders have moved out. Stayed 8th to 10th nov 2019

    This place is amazing! We stayed here before and after our lost city hike and both times had excellent service. They upgraded our room for free both times! The staff are super friendly and the rooms and pools are beautiful! This was probably the nicest hotel we stayed at during our month in Colombia, definitely recommend!!

    The hotel was amazing! Beautiful accomodations, friendly people. I don't recommend the restaurant however, the service was awful and the food was just okay. Otherwise highly recommend the hotel, centrally located, friendly hotel service and wonderful pools to relax.

    Our experience started with the hotel setting up our transport at the airport by a very welcoming couple. They provided some history of the city on our way to the hotel. We felt at ease with them. The front desk staff was exceptional providing detailed tourist information for our budget and short stay in Santa Marta. The hotel was well maintained and we felt safe. Location of the hotel is in walking distance to the beach where locals go and a short taxi ride to catch the boats to other beaches. And the pool is divine to relax after a day of sightseeing. We were 4 and we loved our room. The bathroom had this beautiful wall with plants, had a stove and small fridge.

    1 of 3 part Review: Upon arriving on Monday night at around 10:30pm, I was not impressed with the entrance. The 1st thing I saw was a huge roach which led me to feel then area the hotel is in, is not clean. The hotel lobby was dark and gloomy but our greeter Carlos was bright and cheerful. He quickly checked us in and carried our luggage up 3 flights into our room. To save energy they keep the ACs off and the room felt muggy. Before the lights were lit, we noticed the stains on the couches. There were stains on the bedsheets and the pillow covers were torn. There was paint coming off the walls and the room was poorly proportioned. We called Carlos and advise him of our concerns, he showed us several rooms, 4 additional rooms, all felt muggy, all with stained couches and all with stained sheets. We decided to stay in a room but asked for new clean sheets. As we were changing the bedsheets, on our own, a tiny roach crawled out and we immediately left this room. We ended up staying in a room in the 1st floor which felt that it was cleaned more recently. We still changed the sheets, because by this point we didn’t trust the sheets the bed had. Carlos, the only employee in the premise at that time, was very helpful. He was able to juggle our inconveniences and also attend other guests with their requests. Due to this experience we couldn’t rest well throughout our 3 night stay because we felt that a bug might crawl into our bed at any moment of the night.

    Recommended for a short stay

    Lovely hotel for a short stay in Santa Marta. Well located. Very helpful staff. Pools are refreshing but small. Dinner in restaurant was great. Rooms are fine, good a/c & Wi-Fi. But..rooms are on three floors but no lift to top floor.
