We found Orange Grove Farm quite disappointing based on previous good reviews it has received. We think that the previous manager, Christopher, has now left and a new manager has recently started. The new Manager told us he had only arrived 10 days earlier and although he was an extremely likeable person, the owner should take more resposiblity during the transition period. Most of the small problems were with housekeeping, ie towels not replaced, toiletries not replaced, and the same with other things.
The water is described in the book as crystal clear spring water. However, whilst we were there it was brown and very unappealing. This may be something to do with the drought but, if so, must be pointed out to guests. We made sure to make coffee with bottled water.
Breakfast was good, plentiful but not amazing. Too much in fact but this is obviously a personal point of view. Most problems were fairly quickly sorted out, but shouldn't have occurred in the first place.
It is very off putting when you get a welcome letter that has in bold print the request that you do not take any toiletries away when you leave. Not very welcoming. The housekeeping is a bit hit and miss. Also, to re-itterate a comment by a previous guest, the soundproofing in Longlands cottage needs sorting out - if someone is in the upstairs bedroom or bathroom, you can hear everything downstairs!
