You could do a lot worse!
Stayed here one night this past weekend. I arrived in Toronto on a very warm Friday afternoon. There is no parking on Dundas St W in Chinatown where the place is located; I paid $17 for an spot in a garage a block away. I walked from the garage to the front door, which was propped open, and was greeted by a friendly woman who found me on her list and checked me in (approx. $110 for 1 night). Room 524, 2nd floor. The room was tiny and L-shaped, with a double bed and cramped bathroom with a shower. Everything was very clean, neat and tidy. I was provided two towels and clean bed linens. No a/c, but there was an oscillating fan. Signed in to the free Wi-Fi and relaxed before going out, locking my room and leaving my backpack and belongings. I met the lady again on my way out and she instructed me to use a four-digit code to unlock the front door upon my return. When I got back that night (late, around 2am), the front door was still wide open, which I found strange. But my room was locked and none of my things had been disturbed. Overall, a good experience. It is a bare-bones accommodation, but an affordable, convenient place to spend the night if you need nothing more than a place to sleep. The rooms are tiny, but clean and well-kept and the place was quiet. Recommended.

Bad news
There was no one to admit us so had to sleep in car. Front screen door was hanging only on one hinge, window to left of front door was broken, porch hadn't been swept for a long time. Would not advise any one to stay here.

Practical location
It's more of a hostel than a hotel, the room was very clean, appropriate to spend the night and take a shower, not the kind of room to spend a lot of time in. It's in a good location, close to cable and subway stations. The price is reasonable for Toronto, as everything is very expensive in Toronto.
