The beautiful setting. The attention to detail and the fact it only has 5 lodges.

Amazing stay here. Highly recommended. What a wonderful safari experience. There is a massive watering hole at the center of this property that attracts a lot of animals, so aside from the many animal viewing opportunities during the game drives, you can experience a sofa safari by just watching the animals come to the watering hole from the comfort of your villa or from the lounge/dining area.

We came here for 3 nights for our honeymoon. The food, lodges, service and game drives were all phenomenal! It was a fantastic stay and incredibly relaxing. We couldn't believe how amazing every detail was during our stay. Highly recommend and worth every penny!

Puts the pilanesburg to shame, well worth an extra hours drive. Intimate experience, where it is tempting to forgo the game drives to lay on a the big leather couch with a book, occasionally peeking at the giraffe, elephants and buffalo bustling at the water hole in front of you... Rooms are very spacious and with full 180 view of the bush. The rooms closer to the lodge will have better views of the waterhole and accompanying wildlife. Food was excellent, meticulously prepared. Nico and team happy to go the extra mile to make the stay special.... Whether setting up a special tv viewing room with snacks for a World Cup game, or some local sparkling wine in the room for an occasion.

Nothing prepared me for the immediacy and intensity of the experience at Jamala. As an experienced traveller and visitor of other safari lodges I was struck by the intimate exclusivity of this lodge. No detail was overlooked. The wild life and African bush was centre stage, with this immaculate lodge the vehicle of an unforgettable experience. Rodney and Nico made you feel like you have arrived home after a long journey and small details like a hot drawn mineral bath after a game drive made this an incomparable experience. There is no doubt in my mind that I will visit again and as soon as possible.

Jamala Madikwe deserves so much more than just 5 stars. It is a TOP NOTCH lodge which pampers you from the moment you arrive (popping a bottle of champagne) to the moment you depart, nonstop. You simply end up wishing your departure date would be a lot further in the calendar. Rodney (Owner), and Nico (Chef & Manager) and the whole crew are simple fascinating people, which make your stay Jamala quite incomparable to the other lodges, far more superior. Nico's food is too good to be true,(Michelin Star Rated, easily). And the rooms, you simple can't ask for more; they are beautiful, cozy, spacious, luxurious, plus each one has a fascinating view of the water whole. Which makes it possible to watch some amazing game just from the room. I would end this review by saying, me and my whole will be definitely returning to Jamala some time in the future. It was unrealistically great.!

While not an expert in safari lodges, let me say that I cannot imagine a better experience exists in Madikwe park. The villas are lovely, the grounds great, the staff wonderful, the food VERY good, and Rodney and Nico are perfect hosts. Game drives were great. The watering hole in front of the main lodge is perfect for a "sofa safari" between game drives. My wife and I had a wonderful time and will return.

From the moment you arrive the superb team are very welcoming. The location of the lodge is second to none opposite a waterhole, on our first afternoon there were eight giraffes drinking there! The lodges are huge and very luxurious, there are only five of them which make it feel very intimate. The game drives are unbelievable and we saw all of the big five plus a family of cheetahs - wow...! All of the staff are wonderful with great names like Happy & Precious (which they are!). Special mention must go to our Ranger Lazi who not only found all of the animals we wanted but also explained the different tracks of the animals. We were on a night drive when he said that he could smell elephants then about two minutes later there was a huge herd! - incredible! The food is top class and to die for, as is the whole experience from landing on the little airstrip to leaving Jamala...... If you are only ever going to do one Safari in your life, or even if you have already been on Safari you NEED to do JAMALA! Thanks to Nico, Rodney and any of the exceptional team who have not been mentioned by name. Derryck & Sharon
